Someone posted that a certain make of car with a certain bumper sticker was constantly speeding down the street. (these types of posts are fairly normal and scare me into driving 5 mph under the limit)
Someone said I know who that is, someone else suggested talking to her about her speeding. someone else said she did talk to the speeder about the speeder...
and then this morning her DH got on all threatening people for complaining about his wife's driving.

Don't people in your neighborhood have better things to do. What's with all of the shaming? Couldn't there juts have been a general post reminding people to slow down.
Oh yeah, I can relate. Ours gets like this also. But the hot topic seems to be people walking their dogs & the lack of etiquette (putting poop bags in people's trash cans or yard waste bags by the curb..instead of carrying them back to their own house & disposing of them; allowing their dog to pee on their bushes; etc) It turns into "I'M WATCHING YOU" and threatening to take photos & posting them for all to see, etc etc.

oops... on trash days i regularly through my dog poop bags in cans out on the street. Other days I through in construction trash bins or the cans around the hood in parks.

gpw we are asses together. I didn't know it was a bad thing to do either.
I got scolded on MM for doing it.
I routinely toss the poop bag in someone else's trash can if it is trash day, the barrel is at the curb, and if it hasn't been picked up yet. That means it will only have to sit there, on the top of the other trash, for a short period of time.

But apparently that is considered rude.
but....WHY? My dog's crap can't touch your precious garbage? That makes zero sense to me.

We are looking at a house in an HOA, so I googled to see about the amenities. I came across the monthly newsletter from April where the president's letter was all about people speeding and how they had installed speed detectors with cameras and ended with "Thank you to those of you who make this a nice place to live. To those of you who don't, you know who you are. We're watching you." Lol
It would not at all bother me if someone threw their poop bag in my trash can sitting at the curb. But apparently not everyone in my 'hood feels the same. I'm just happy that people use poop bags (other than the jackass who didn't & it was right in front of our mailbox..grrr).
People apparently can be territorial about their trash.

We had a big email bru-ha-ha today in our HOA, bc someone got a letter from the HOA about her yard being a mess BECAUSE OF A HOA APPROVED CONSTRUCTION PROJECT. She was understandably pissed and said something about it on the email list. Then it turned into the usual "why are we getting letters about mowing our grass when e HOA-maintained grass is a foot tall". So the HOA president says "the mowers are doing their best but it has rained every day for a month and their mowers get bogged down" which spurs five hundred emails saying "FU HOA president, if the HOA mowers get stuck in the mud then wtf do you think happens to our own mowers?!?!".

It's stuff like that that makes me dislike HOAs sometimes. The hypocrisy is sometimes unreal. It's bad enough to have to get HOA approval, but then to do your project and get a letter because of it. Oh, hell no. I'd be making noise too. I also would have said something about them giving the HOA mowers a break, but not homeowners.
It's not so much getting approval, but the fact they generally take a long time (yes, I understand it's mostly volunteers), but then having to pay to get approval (I think my HOA stopped that). If you get someone on the board who doesn't like you or just plain doesn't like the look of what you're going to do, it can be hell to get something approved.
I posted about my HOA and pool drama on MM yesterday. Act first and think later tends to be their MO. It hasn't worked well so far.
I am so glad I found what's probably one of the only HOA-free neighborhoods in NoVA. Sure, we have a weird compound down the street with a bazillion cars inside a fence. But our lawn looks like crap because we haven't had the baby-free time to weed and we don't get a fine!
