I'm mostly concerned that mine can't do her cartwheels in a straight line and barely speaks French or Italian! I mean she picked up a few words on our recent trip but the damn child can't string a sentence together in a single foreign language? Dont get me started on how her piano lessons are going. I'm embarrassed constantly by her but what can I do.
I think we all have people who imply our kids are behind due to lack of knowledge on what is average at a given age. Ada isn't much a talker and every single time the ILs are around since 12 months they ask if she is talking and try to get her to talk to them, in like sentences. I got worried between that and the extreme talkers here so I did a bunch of google searches to see that Ada is a bit behind but not extreme.
Some people won't google it though and just get worried when somebody who doesn't know what they are talking about say something "negative".

You should be embarrassed. Tyler moved to one handed cartwheels weeks ago.

That's cute. I'll have to remind Carter to teach him his backhandspring pike position triple lutz long jump next time we see you guys. He makes a mean martini now, too.
We just got back from the pedi. The exact question asked regarding language was "does he have TWO to THREE words yet?" So you can tell whomever says W is behind language wise to fuck off, blondiesbored.
Agree.
I really hate when strangers, or even family, try to tell people their kids are behind. If you aren't a pediatrician, the parents or someone who specializes in toddlers, STFU.

Thanks! Tyler is really having trouble sticking the landing.

Just to clarify, I wasn't being passive aggressive in my post. I am not stressing about the number of words my child says either but the fact that when I take her out and someone says, "She'll catch up" I STRESS that she is only 15 months old! I also did a google search and it said at this age 3 words other then Mom and Dad is about average. I am a believer that each child develops at their own rate and some are stronger physically then with verbal skills.
I don't think threads like this are started to upset me. I just think that a quick google search could tell you that 10 words at 15m is absolutely nothing to worry about.
I'm sorry if I insulted or upset anyone. I think my post was miswritten. I am not stressing about the number of words W says. She is an average kid but strong willed. I wasn't trying to be AWish or showing off my acrobat kid. She is a big girl. We were told today that she is the size of an average 22 month old. So, that is why we are getting the catch up lines from people.
I tried to reply to this a while ago but my computer started configuring updates. Anyway, she is in the 99th percentile for height. She grew 2 3/4 inches since April, a little over a foot since birth. Her weight is starting to slow down, she was in 84th percentile and was the same weight as her 12 month visit + a couple ounces. The kid doesn't stop so I'm not surprised with that. I'm not sure about her head percentile, I didn't ask but was told she is proportionate. I asked her doctor where she was in comparison to other kids sizes and she said, about the size of an average 21-22 month old.
Yes, I did know I had shots to deal with today. I have a booklet from her doctor letting us know when to expect shots. I was not sure if they started to talk about developmental stuff yet OR waited until 18 month appointment. That was why I posted. I just mentioned the words because of the comments I got recently from strangers at a playground or at the library. It really wasn't meant to be a panic post about my kid. I know she is basically average developmentally. She is well above average in growth, that is all.
I am sure every parent worries about their child. I am a FTM, I worry a little but I do whatever I can to make sure she is happy and healthy. There is really not much more I could do. If she fell behind for one reason or another the only thing I can do as her parent is to make sure there is help for her.
Her doctor did mention her eyes again today, but as of right now we do not need a follow up for her specialist. She has pseudo strabismis which is not a vision issue but while getting that checked out, they found out she does have vision problems and is far sighted. We have to make an appointment in October for that to see if it worsened or corrected itself. We also talked about sttn because it has been an issue, biting, temper tantrums and brushing her teeth.
This post turned into something kind of ugly, I just wanted to know what was talked about at others 15 month well visit.
My kid is the size of a 22 month old. I didn't know that was anything out of the ordinary.
I don't see how this post got "ugly?" Hm.
She was called passive aggressive, which isn't positive by any means.
Ada is pretty tall so generally she is the height of an older kid but verbally is a 14 month old. It just makes strangers think she is older until they ask.

I didn't say SHE was. I felt the comment was to some degree. I went back and read it and don't necessarily agree with my initial sentiment but it was AWish to some degree. She asked a question to which was answered and then went off on a tangent for seemingly no reason which was AWish to me. Geeze.

Um, tangent? Just saying, there was NO tangent! We can go back and forth like this forever but it's getting a little old for me. Some of the replies were a little catty and nasty. That's all.
I actually was curious about what to expect at the appointment too - ours is next week. We're on the schedule mostly 100% (except he didn't get Hep B until 2 months) and I don't remember what vaccines we are supposed to get at this visit. I think he got MMR last time - is there another one this time? I feel like the CDC site is not helpful in the least and totally confusing.

Oh geez.
If I weren't on my phone I would post an eye roll gif.
