I was gifted a "pretty pusher" but it was too big on my petite frame, one of the openings for the monitors was right at my crotch, not cute. I also changed 3 times in the 15 hours I labored before the c-section, it was especially bad after he broke my water in bed
mandapanda18 I had to google "pretty pusher" and holy hell there's nothing pretty about them! It's like...kind of terrible actually. The poses on their website...lmao
I packed my hospital bag on my way out the door to the hospital and my L&D process was so quick that I didn't give too much thought to it and was just naked under the hospital gown. I actually just stayed in gowns until I was discharged. Putting pants over the ice packed mesh undies just felt weird to me. And i didn't throw enough clothes in my hospital bag for two nights anyway, so gown was easiest.
I laboured with the gown on backwards so I could have some coverage, but also easy access for skin to skin immediately after delivery.
You will not give a shit what you're wearing. Or I didn't anyway. It was fast and intense and at some points the gown was just in the way, and I would have preferred being naked, which I essentially was at the end.
Hospital gown with a sports bra during. They made me wear it all night too bc I didn't deliver until 1030pm and by the time all the craziness was over, it was nearing 1am.
Immediately when I woke up the next morning, I showered and changed into some VS sweats and a t shirt
ETA: for this time, I was given a pretty Pea in the Pod nightgown and robe set.
I was naked, wrapped in a large hospital bath sheet, having just gotten out of the labor tub. 5 seconds later my water broke and, well, changing into anything was the last thing on my mind.
At some point afterward, before transferring up to our room, they put me in a hospital gown.
I'm expecting pretty much the same thing this time around.
For after, I bought just a soft, knit sleep shirt in black, and my mom altered the neckline a bit so it's lower, and also has extra elastic so I can pull it down further for nursing.
I also have soft yoga pants and nursing tanks and a soft robe (all in black, just in case!), but wanted the sleep shirt in case I don't want anything around my waist or if easier access to my lower half is needed while I'm in the hospital.
I'm a birth doula, and I can tell you that 9/10 of the moms I work with wind up naked. I also wound up completely naked in labor with DD. When she was born I put a gown on, but there was a long time where I wanted absolutely NOTHING (and no one) touching any part of me.
I imagine it will probably be about the same this go around.
