Basically same info different doctor. They did take a sample of her poop, great timing on Peyton's part. So they intend on testing that.
This doc also recommended pumping vs nursing so they can get a good idea of intake. I still don't feel comfortable doing that. It's basically my last option kinda thing. With cutting her back to every 2-3hrs between nursing she's already gained 4oz in a week. So that must mean something right?
We met with the nutritionalist as well and went over a game plan. I'll PIP the "ideal balanced daily menu for a 1-2 year old"
We were also given some samples of another drink that's like pediasure and told to buy the carnation breakfast essentials powder.
Another big change is getting her back in her high chair at meals. She's just been on the couch eating with us and that's a big no no apparently.
We are told to give her a strict set schedule for all meals and snacks and to only allow her a certain time period to eat. 15-20mins per snack and 30mins for a meal. Nothing more than water between snack and meal times, nursing included.
Here are her stats on 7/30 16lbs 12oz 28.5in (naked weight) And then today's 17lbs 2oz 28.5in(in a dry diaper) They also gave BMI: 15.15 kg/m2
We have a follow up appt in 3 months and should here back in a couple weeks about the stool sample.
Sorry this post is so scrambled. My brain is everywhere. Haha.
Well it's great that she has gained the 4 oz! Hopefully these new changes will see some more weight gain. Are you going to wait the 3 months and then decide on the pumping vs. nursing?

4oz in a week is great. I'm sorrying you are dealing with this. I don't like the idea of limiting nursing though... that rubs me the wrong way. I hope her stool sample comes back ok. She looks so happy and healthy BTW.

Yeah. Pumping is my last resort is what I was trying to say. If all this other stuff fails to show improvement in the next 3 months, I will consider pumping exclusively.
Do you feel better after this visit? I'm glad they gave you a plan and had you meet with the specialists. Are they concerned with absorption at all? How do they test for it?
Great job with her weight gain! Sounds like you've gotten some good advice and are making some good changes. Hopefully, she continues to do well and grow!
I know others disagree but I do understand why they are having her on a time bfeeding schedule. It's like the bottle to sippy transition. If some babies know they can get yummy from the bottle the way they like it they will refuse a sippy cup. Once they understand they will no longer get the bottle they will adjust to the sippy cup.
Since Peyton is so smart I will think that she will understand that she doesn't get to nurse anytime she wants hopefully her hunger cues will kick in and she will want other stuff besides boobies.

If I can just throw something else out here, more in general than anything else. I think it's important for meals to happen at the table with no distractions, as a family. When it was just the DH and me, you're damn right we ate in front of the TV, and when H came, I knew those days were sadly coming to an end. For us, it's a time to talk about our day; also I feel like H needs to sit and really focus on her meals in order for her to understand what it feels like to be full.
I promise I am not passing judgment here on any of you ladies. I just feel like if you start cultivating the idea of "meal time" at the table now, it will become a solid part of your family's day really fast. And it shows that eating is important, not something that happens when you're doing something else.

I agree. I was bad at this but have been getting better. At my house my whole family eats dinner super late so sometimes I have to feed Laney by herself but I have started sitting at the table with her and having a snack while she eats and it's helping

I agree. DH and I have always eaten together at the table every night and it's an important part of our time to communicate. Luke's still in his highchair next to the table but we plan on keeping him there as long as possible.

ughh this makes me feel shitty (the concept, not you - you are just reiterating what I already know). I hate eating meals with Joanna. I like to enjoy my dinner. She eats early and then we eat after she goes to bed.
I get it, though. And I think she eats better when we all eat together. But I don't. lol
Still probably not going to do it regularly for awhile.
Same, my twin.
I so plan on doing it when he's a bit older though.

@tambcat we don't eat meals as a family either and I don't see it happening in the near future. We feel Henry around 5:30 or 6:00 we eat after he is in bed.

Dh and I deal with this by having a light snack or pre meal salad with Thad on nights we want a "real meal." He has no clue that the good stuff comes out later.
I don't want a snack, though. Sometimes I will sit and have a small glass of wine. lol. But usually I am busy tidying stuff up or doing something in the kitchen.
I got lost after your first sentence. Who doesn't want a snack!?

That is a very weird looking meal plan! 1 tsp margarine? 1/4c yogurt? and whats with all the cracker types? lol seems like a strange recommendation but I suppose its just a guideline for amounts.
From what you posted before pey eats quite a bit anyway, probably more calories than is being recommended in this meal plan?
I like the idea of a weighted before and after feed before going to pumping. starting to exclusively pump for a 1.5 year old just seems so bizarre to me! Hopefully you can avoid that.

The boys always eat in their chairs but we generally don't always eat with them. Sometimes I eat breakfast with them in the mornings and sometimes Jake will have a snack w them at dinner. But we try to keep meal time distraction free.
Every Sunday we do a family dinner and that's when we all sit around and eat together. It's nice and everyone looks forward to it (the boys like seeing that we're eating the same stuff lol).

We ate dinner at 5:30 tonight.
Damn. That's what 80 year olds say, right?
I guess we are 80 too. We eat dinner with the girls at 5:30 to 6:00.
I can't eat so late after the girls go to bed, I get indigestion.
I agree with the table thing. It is a special treat if Lydia gets to eat in the family room.
