I am really surprised to hear these are the costs for a public schools. There are most definitely a significant number of families in our district would could not afford that amount. I donate crayons and such that I get on the cheap for children whose families cannot afford our modest list. What are they spending the tax dollars on?
Ours was cheap, probably under $40 with everything for K.
Markers, crayons, glue sticks, colored dry erase markers, headphones then sanitizer, wipes and tissues. I bought an extra set to send in, including a full class st of glue sticks ($6) because it is so much cheaper now.

Are you serious? In my state the funding to schools is a joke. There is enough put on the teachers to buy.
If parents really can't pay there are backpacks of supplies donated or the school will make sure you have what you need.

Our schools are funded primarily by our local property taxes. State funding makes us only a small part of the budget and school funding is a top priority for our community. And yes, there are a lot of families in our district that could not afford to pay $100 per child for supplies. At my son's school roughly 25% of the population gets reduced/free lunch.
