I don't buy mine either. I have had some doozies. I had one where the skin on my leg looked like it was melting off -- I have no idea -- it was like it was vibrating, it had a million wrinkles and waves.
I too, have some hilarious pictures I have never purchased. The best is when they catch you in a blink, or a close eyed deep breath. I have so many pictures where I was actually feeling OK, but I look like I'm about 1/2 sec away from dropping dead. Oddly enough, none of these have been during my marathons. I actually get really good marathon pictures.
I don't buy my bad ones, so I don't have them handy to post. Calvin has taken a few that are... not so flattering. When I get home if I have a chance I'll PIP some.
I don't buy the ugly ones, so I don't have any to share. But, my ugly ones are actually ugly - not anything like that!
No one here believes that you have *ever* taken a bad picture
Lol! Imma do some searching and see what I can find . I promise - there are some seriously gnarly ones! If that girls thinks SHE has 3 chins?? I've got news for her!
Ya know what? I take it back. I was just looking through my pics, and I have purchased some bad ones, but this just proves that people are too hard on themselves. By the standards in that link, I should submit this for a bad pic. The thing is, it's a picture of me crossing the finish line of my last marathon. I was hot, & I was tired, but I had also just killed my goal time, grabbed a huge PR, and I was feeling pretty damn proud. A guy from my running group saw this picture & told me the first word that popped into his head was strength. I took that as a huge compliment. They caught me mid blink, and my face doesn't look pretty, but it reflects the hard work I had just put in for the last 3 hours & 46 minutes. I'm proud of this bad race picture.

YOu should be! You look great! I know what you mean too. There is something fascinating about all race photos. I like the "heat of the moment" ones much more than the "smile and wave" ones. Something about capturing the human body in a state of extreme effort, or relief, or pain, or in a zen state -- it's pretty cool.

My favorite marathon pic is a smile and wave photo. It was raining, I'd been separated from my running buddy by that point, my outfit is totally fug, and I look ganky as hell, but I was smiling and waving at the camera in the middle of a marathon. I loves it. I'll try to PIP tomorrow. That race is still my PR for 26.2 and my best marathon experience to date.
I think others might believe I run with my eyes closed all the time. For real...about 90% of my pics are closed eyed. And my legs are always all knock-kneed or have cellulite or that wavy skin shit. Meh...I'm still kicking ASS!
My favorites are from my PR marathon and my Disney half. I loved running both of those races and even in the "bad" pictures, I look awesome, because I felt awesome.
I have lost a ton of weight since this race. I was DYING! My friend was helping to pace me to a PR, which I got. I wanted to walk so bad up the last hill. She was pulling me so I didn't walk. Me teammates and I love to laugh at this picture!!
joenali, you HAVE lost a bunch of weight! Awesome job!!
LOL! patches31709, I love that picture so much. Here's another bad one that was taken by a friend during my last marathon. It was a few feet after the mile 18 water stop. I'm mid water/mid mouth full of cheez-its, attempting a smile & laughing. I mean, wtf is with my face? They titled it "Christie, on a lunch break."

Awww thanks!! It's taken almost two years and you know, some ironman training!! I think I was still hypothyroid at this point too, so it felt like no matter how much work I did and what I ate, it didn't matter, it was hard to lose. As soon as I got on meds, I lost several pounds immediately. When I look at this picture, I don't even recognize myself!!

Ha thanks! I about died when I first saw it. I love that they called your picture "on a lunch break." It does look like you're just walking around with a mouth full of food. Nice view for a race though!
It was such a pretty race! The person I grabbed water from is probably parallel to the guy in the green shoes, & there is a trash can right in front of me that I was getting ready to throw everything into. They caught me at just the right moment.

I take awful swim pics. I am not one of the 15% of people who looks decent in a swim cap. In fact, I would say I'm one of the 25% of people who should never wear a swim cap ever. LOL
For example:
Also, apparently I make stupid faces when I'm talking (this was during a check-in break at my icebreaker in February):

I'm not laughing at the picture!! I'm sorta laughing that she was literally dragging you. I'd probably would have pushed her over!

Plus, what a great "before" picture!
I actually told her to shut up!!
Good! When DH is riding hills with me and trying to "encourage" me, I usually have to tell him to go away! I don't like communicating (even one-way) when I can't breathe!
Gosh, some of those pictures are hysterical...I really thought I was alone in the unflattering race pic boat! Seriously, DH has run a lot of races with me and his pictures are always stellar. Mine are so bad. Always. Consistency, holla. lol.
