Fuuuuuck her. She sucks. I've worked with some GREAT trainers, I wasn't in ideal shape when I started, and none of them would ever say things like that, and it's not because they weren't tough, it's that they were smart enough and good enough trainers to know THAT isn't the way you motivate someone. Like, when I started with one and my body fat was kinda high - she was like ok let's work on getting you leaner, here's the plan. We didn't talk about numbers again. None of this "your health is at risk BULLSHIT". BHC is a revolving door of trainers who don't know shit.
ETA: I want you to stop letting this idiot trainer upset you. Seriously, she doesn't deserve this much energy from you. Think of her like a bad date - write a funny blog about her and be done!
I apologize that I didn't make that clear. I do strongly believe that your health is not where it should be, based on both numbers that we have seen. Bmi and body fat. Heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cancer and infertility only begin the list of diseases that are affected by carrying extra body fat. Back pain, knee pain, and joint replacements are also ask more common in those who carry now weight.
So I'm assuming since she thinks your overall health isn't good, she also tested you for all of the bolded above?
Seriously, fucking bitch! I would be livid and I love your response back to her. I would absolutely speak with the management there and leave the gym completely. I wouldn't give them another dime. She's a fucking bully.
I keep going back & forth between whether she's a bully using scare tactics, or whether she's just really misinformed. I don't really think what she said was that bad, but, ya know, you didn't fucking ask her & it's wrong information, so she should probably just shut the fuck up. I'm team stop engaging. You're giving her way too much control over you, but I know that's probably much easier to see & understand when you're not the one in the situation.
Also, I weigh just over 120 pounds at 4'11" and am not overweight. BMI is not a good indicator of health. And even if you are overweight, it doesn't sound like you're about to keel over because of it. You don't have all that much to lose, relatively speaking. I'm sorry you were treated this way and I really hope you're able to find someone who is excited about working with you and treats you with the respect you deserve.
Thanks ladies. I had a great hike in the Sierra mountains where I kicked ass hiking and had a blast. Regardless, it still does sting especially after coming back from 4 injuries in a year and finally feeling good about myself. I'm going to talk to management and likely change gyms when I get back into town.
Ignore her and find someone who uplifts and inspires you. That is the only way to develop long-term, healthy gym-going habits. I'm really sorry she's being a douche.

I irony is that I don't need a trainer. I only did it because it was free. Nothing's ever free I guess haha

Not all free things are worth the price! Haha.
just ignore her and carry on with your life then. No need to let her get you down, you rock.
