There is a big fire (1200acres+) near us so it's all hazy and smokey out. I'm making pancakes right now. We have absolutely no plans today. Which is the weirdest thing ever. We are usually booked solid. And it's supposed to be over 100 degrees today, so we definetly won't be doing anything outside.
This is my first attempt at water bath canning. It took 1 hour for almost 21 quarts of water to boil. I started out low and kept increasing because I didn't want to crack my glass top. The pot is by Ball and it is made for a glass top but it is still bigger than my burner. But it worked out perfectly.
I got 5 jars of banana pepper rings. I hope they all seal.
Next up to do; 25lbs of tomatoes to turn into sauce.
I just got done mopping the kitchen/dining room floor and cleaning two bathrooms while ds is napping.
Now I'm watching Yard Crashers and trying to decide what I want to take out for dinner tonight.
My sil offered to help h clean out our garage tomorrow. I'm hoping he will take her up on it so we can get the tile that is on our living room floor out of here and my real furniture in! I want to have ds's birthday party at our house next weekend but need a place for eveyone to sit!
We're going to my in laws for dinner tomorrow night, and I'm supposed to do dessert, and I don't have a clue what to bring.
Cupcakes? If I do that, vanilla or chocolate? Buttercream is not negotiable, but what flavor?
Cookies? If I do that, snickerdoodles, or ginger snaps, or peanut butter sandwich cookies (the filling is a lot like buttercream icing, just with a lot of peanut butter and less cream so that it's thicker)?
I don't know. It's not helping that what I want to make is brownie cupcakes with chocolate chip cookie dough frosting, but my MIL would freak.
Edit: pecan chocolate chip bars are also an option. I don't know.

Because my MIL doesn't understand why "everyone has to change recipes to make them different"
Technically, I'm not in charge of dessert, but she always decides I am two hours before we're supposed to be there for dinner, even though I asked if I need to bring anything and she says no. So I'll be in charge of dessert tomorrow.

My MIL is awful. I would just say screw her, but then the entire dinner will be about how everyone changes recipes and you never know what to expect and she'll play a martyr.
And I know I'm playing her game, but I also really like to bake and love dessert, and she's a terrible cook. She messes up boxed brownies. So if I don't bring dessert, we won't have anything good, and that will make a terrible dinner worse.
I think snickerdoodles, and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. And probably peanut butter sandwich cookies to make my husband happy. Or pecan chocolate chip bars. Something different than the vanilla stuff.

Fun! Ive done fruit pickles and green tomato pickles so far. I don't normally make sauce because it takes so many tomatoes to make a tiny bit of sauce. I'm too impatient for that.
Im back at Urgent Care. I'm not getting better. H has a Tigers game tonight thats in memory of his BFF's Dad so he cant miss it. How am I going to take care of J when I'm half dead?
Have they tested you for pertussis yet?
They didn't test me for it but it sounds like they should have. I was re-dx with bronchial pnemonomoia and given 6 different medicines to take. If I get worse I'll have to get admitted to the hospital. This sucks!
My husbands phone is frustrating me. I almost want to go back to the sprint store and pay out of pocket for a new phone. He just ran off to do something and has no phone.
