I went to Catholic school, and yes, I wore uniforms from 1st-12th grade.
I didn't mind them. I liked always knowing what I was going to wear the next day. In HS, I had to wear a plaid skirt, blouse, and a sweater (Oct-April). But we could wear crazy knee socks, so it was a big thing to go to a local store and buy a bunch of fun knee sock patterns. The guys wore slacks, dress shirt, and blazer with a tie. They could wear whatever tie they wanted.
Public high school and we had to khaki pants, skirts, or shorts (could be navy blue or black too) and solid color polos or button ups. I prefer it, seemed harder to separate the cliques and there were no longer kids wearing long black trench coats that always seemed like they might shoot up the school at any moment.

The dress code policy for my HS was no spaghetti strap tank tops by themselves, and nothing that shows your ass, your midriff and (in theory) not too much boob.
I wore a uniform until the 7th grade; I didn't mind at the time and looking back I'm glad I did. I'd love to send my hypothetical kids to school in uniforms. It's a level playing field and much less distracting I think.
Lol, this is sorta true, I think. But honestly, kids will always compare, especially at that age. It'll just be about who has the cheap Target polos and who gets the more expensive Abercrombie and Express polos, who manages to sneak a logo onto a shirt or get away with a ruffled collar, who wears the nicer jewelry or the brightest accessories, etc.
We have a uniform policy in our county, and if you have, like, a regular polo from Walmart as opposed to, like, a Hollister or Aeropostale then you're totally a loser.
SO dumb. I don't hate the idea of a uniform, but it is such a pain to enforce.
