I am on a state pre exisiting condition plan and paid $ 167 last year. Now its $242 no clue how much more it will be with the new plans, but I'm definitely nervous.
Obamacares a joke. I looked at my state premiums and there anywhere b/t $400-2200 a month. At $400 a month you have a 90% coinsurance and 5k deductible. For insurance that mimics a HMO with $30 copays, its $1100+. That's still not affordable for anyone and won't improve our nations health.
Did you look at the table I posted from the vermont HCA? Most people who are uninsured will not pay $1100/month.
Based on the experience in MA under a very similar situation, the people who get a bad deal out of Obamacare are, roughly * young healthy people, especially those who are single and just over 400% of FPL who do not have employer-sponsored insurance * healthy people who make just over 400% of FPL who do not have employer-sponsored insurance especially if they don't have kids
This is a very small number of people compared to the number of people that will be helped by Obamacare. Once you get to 300 or 400% of FPL, you tend to have a job with benefits.
My sister haa insurance through her H's employer which used to not cover well-woman visits, BCP, or pregnancy. Obamacare mandates that these services can not be excluded by insurance companies anymore.
I have also heard that the healthcare costs should start decreasing eventually since more people will have access to preventative healthcare as opposed to going to the ER when they are really really sick. I think only time will tell if this will really happen.

Do you even know what the Federal Poverty Levels are? If you are making 400% of the FPL as a SINGLE person you are making $45K a year. If you are making $45K a year chances are you have a decent paying job that provides benefits and you do not need to purchase HI through a state exchange.
