Oh, and Zumba is loads of fun! Just adapt your level of hip shaking/swiveling based on how sore you are. Also more or less bend in the knees based on your soreness.
When I've done Zumba I always feel like I'v going to die within the first 15 minutes but I LOVE it! And I've survived every time.
Malibu, can I also ask where you're going and how much classes are, if they are extra from your regular gym fees? This winter I hope to join a gym again, and want to see if my company discount is at the same place as yours.

I'm going to Xperience Fitness in Vadnais. There's a few of them around the cities. I signed up for the $19.99/month plan (the other option was $9.99/mo) that include the Group Classes. They have a ton of equipment, the Cardio Cinema (my favorite thing - dark room, cardio equipment and the sides lined with mats, exercise balls and weights and a movie playing), I think most have a pool. Definitely worth the money!
I've never done Zumba before. I know it's a lot of ass shaking (twerking, perhaps? Is that what the "young folk" call it now?), but beyond that, I don't know much about it other than it burns a ton of calories.
malibu Zumba is more like latin dancing with that kind of hip shaking. Not so much twerking, which I think deserves a class all its own. Zumba is lots of fun. There will be lots of women who are barely keeping up and confused and you'll all be able to bond and laugh together.

I hope that's the case! The classes are hard to get into, I don't know if it's going to be a lot of people who have been going for years. I had to sign up for this one three weeks ago, and I think the next one I could get to (in the evenings after work, of course) was mid-September. They're starting up Insanity eventually. I may try that, although just the name scares me.
captainmel, I had to watch a few twerking videos because I was curious. Basically jiggling your ass around. Aaaaaand curiousity got the best of me and I tried it and know how to do it now. It ain't pretty, but shake yo ass.
Can someone explain twerking? I do not understand. Is it basically flailing?
It's basically that ass shaking thing that miley kept doing at the VMAs the other night.
I still don't know what was worse; the twerking, the disgusting tongue flapping all over the place, the lip syncing or Robin Thicke's Beetlejuice suit. I was hoping that Michael Keaton would bum rush the stage and try to take his suit back.
