we used to go out a lot- multiple times a week. Lately, not nearly as much. With his allergies he usually can't get food from the restaurant so I bring my own for him. We hold him until the food comes and bring the ipad for emergencies. If he's too tired he throws everything. It is hard for us to get out early enough so we've been going out less but getting a babysitter when we do. it's more enjoyable.
and we just went to Alaska for 11 days. 33 meals in a restaurant was too much for a kid with allergies. It was really tough and we ended up with more fast food than I'd like because they list their ingredients.
I have the most success at breakfast or lunch. He is just too tired at dinner. The kids menu occupies him enough if he can color, or I bring a non loud toy to distract him until the food comes. Then I have to order something I know he will love, and he's usually ok. When he's done, though, he. is. done. Then he just wants to walk around and bug other people so its time to go.

We've gone out to eat with them three times in 16 months. Like ninjabridemom, it takes us both with pretty much constant attention, so to me it's not worth it.
The last time we went it was a mild success. We ordered their food right away, and it came quick. I also ordered something for myself they could snack on. They played with crayons for a little bit. We ate fast and downed our beers.
H and I did more after work happy hours than dinners out before kids, so we weren't huge on it anyway. I would rather just get a sitter and go and enjoy myself.
My tips: Go for an early dinner so it's not so busy and you get your food faster order their food right away ask for the check as soon as your food arrives so you can pay and leave quickly if need be
We don't eat out much, but for the times we have he has been well behaved. My parents say he definitely didn't get that from me. Apparently, I was a terror in restaurants.
ugh I don't know, I had to change my appointment to the Tuesday at 430 so it definitely won't be that day. I'll probably try to get a Saturday u/s if they do those, that would be the 14th september aka FOREVER away.
You can do it, don't worry. But why are you thinking you might have twins?
no reason besides fear and the fact that it seems like twins are so much more common these days!!
"Two-thirds of the increase is probably explained by the growing use of fertility drugs and assisted reproductive technology. The remainder is mainly attributable to a rise in the average age at which women give birth. "
ETA and if you look at their numbers -- I was in the 30/1000 category. That's still a 3% chance. And then if you count the types of twins (identical v fraternal, then mono-mono, mono-di, di-di identicals) as separate "chances" the percentages decrease. I really wouldn't sweat it Of course it was the furthest thing from my mind and it worked out. But it really isn't anything to dread.

We go out every weekend. I bring food from home that requires attention, and normally he eats while we wait for his food. Then he colors, plays puzzles, or plays on the ipad once our food arrives. It's a pretty quick venture these days, but it's important to us to keep him used to restaurant outings.
Elliot goes out with me at least twice a week for dinner out, occasionally lunch as well (we like to eat out, lol). I go early (5 pm ish - boo), I bring puffs (his frack, that he only gets in restaurants ) for him to snack on while we wait for his food, and a few small toys (a car, a book, a mini magna doodle, etc).
We eat out a lot with the kids, dinner once a week plus b'fast or lunch a couple times. It's not always relaxing but we're used to it having 2 is easier than 1 IMO, older DS entertains his brother a lot.
Keep going out, it's good for them. We went out with DS1 tons when he was little so he could get used to it.
Also we never put him in his high chair until the food arrives.
We take V out maybe once a week. We only go to kid-friendly places that will be fast like Ruby's, Panera or our local pizza place. We bring toys, always let her get a kids cup of water, and feed her as much of the entire time as possible - little bites of her meal, and we always have yogurt melts on hand. She can sit for about 45 minutes usually. If we think it will be longer than that on either end, someone will take her to walk around outside or in the lobby. We usually take her out with my parents, so we take advantage of the extra hands!
