Well I tried to get more money for this new job than their offer. They didn't give me more, but I did get an extra week of vacation. I am ok with that bc I am still getting a big raise. Biggest jump I've ever gotten! Finally hit 6 figures!!

Can we do this again in two weeks? I'm about to take over the position of a coworker who just got promoted. Said coworker has 25 years of industry experience. I have 1. We're going out in two weeks for the customer account transitions, where I have to give my first major customer presentation ever and my global director will be watching specifically to evaluate me.

I love this thread so hard.
I sat a VP down a few weeks ago and called him out on his bullshit that was causing us to miss EBITDA. He said he felt like he was being shamed & I told him he SHOULD feel like that. And then I told my VP what I did. He was proud. You don't get to overspend & make us miss our bonuses, buddy!

A few years ago, I took on an emerging area of my field with no one asking, just because I knew it was important (even if no one else was paying attention). This year, we made a national ranking for my work in that area.
Now I need to get paid more for the increase in time, responsibility and awesomeness. ; )
About a yr ago the compensation dept at my job made a very stupid decision to switch my dept from exempt to non-exempt which has had negative ramifications all around. Their reasoning was complete BS and incorrect. My boss claims to have fought this and my CW'ers are complaining about it, but nobody has really done anything effective. I did some research and found documented sources from HR sites and Dept of Labor which back-up our side and contradict the compensation dept. I disseminated this info to my manager and CWers and presented it to my HR rep. She made a bunch of excuses for compensation, but I remained calm and stood my ground. I used to be a very shy non-assertive person so this is a huge amount of personal growth for me, compared to when I first started my career 17 yrs ago.
I also run the internship program for my department. We had 6 interns just finish up and I am very pleased with how the program ran. I also received a lot of praise for it from all the interns, their supervisors and their school liasons.

In working out a conflict on a new matter, for which I'm the matter manager, the client told two partners on the call, "I don't care how we work it out, I just can't lose [thedutchgirl]." And on the matters from this client, I'm now getting 80% origination credit, and from another 20%. I have a couple more years before I'm up for partnership, due to years I lost lateraling, but this helps immensely. I think I might be the only associate in my group, in my office (and we have a lot) who is matter manager on any matters, let alone close to a dozen.
I did not lean out before it was time to lean out. Sandberg is totally right that leaning in before you have kids gives you such better career options and flexibility when you finally do have them!
I got a 5 out of 5 rating for my 2012 annual review, despite getting back from maternity leave in February, juggling a new baby at home, and pumping at work 2-3 times a day.
I have built such a good reputation that a recruiter recently contacted me and said a competitor has an open position and would like to know if I'm interested. I am, but the pay/position is a slight decrease from where I am now so I said so and they are working on getting approval to hire at a higher level.
yesterday i closed with August ranking as our second highest month ever. our top four months have all been since April 2013 (April, August, June, July). This means our monthly profit is up 30-40% from what it was when i started working one year ago. this is, in large part, because i pushed for and implemented a new scheduling system in January. i spend most of my day bossing my boss around, telling him where to be and when. he's thrilled. i'm a little sad to be taking a year off next year. my temp better kick ass because i'm going to be pissed if i come back and things are declining.
sadly none of this will result in a raise. womp, womp.
Oh, and I used the question I learned some time ago on MM, "Do you have any concerns about me I can address for you while I'm here?" She mentioned and we discussed some of my experience/knowledge deficits, I think I reassured her, and she stated "I'm so glad you asked about that so we could discuss it." So, thanks, MM!

I got a congratulatory email from the VP of my division today. Apparently the site visit I made to one of my customers last week went so well that he heard about it afterward. Which really makes me happy because he is the person standing in the way of the promotion I feel I should have gotten before now and I'm trying to get later this year.
I don't know what will come of this yet, but I've spent a good bit of time in the last couple days on some innovative tools that have the potential to dramatically reduce the time it takes for 2 of our most overworked employees to get a key task done for us. And since no one else at the company is qualified to do that work, and a lot of us spend a good bit of time trying to make it okay with our customers that it doesn't get done in a timely way, this should make a big difference. I took it on myself to do this project though, so it remains to be seen whether I will be scolded for taking time away from other important things without permission, or praised for being innovative.

That's awesome! I will have to remember that as I will hopefully have some interviews soon.
