My grocery said they received notice to pull it all for quality issues - either watery liquid on top that causes it to expire early or it exploding. But when you go to chobani's blog they aren't so forthcoming with details.
I knew several of you had issues so I thought I'd share.
You're welcome. Here's a little more information. I still think it's kind of crappy that they have a recall but they are being pretty low key about it with customers. And I swear that the person who originally complained about it on here said they blamed her for not refrigerating it soon enough.

I think the lot it is associated with is 16-012 (this is from a quick look at the comments on their blog). I just bought the kids tubes for lunches and they have this lot number on them (of course!), so I guess those are going back. Boo.

Thanks for the heads up!
I just got the same tubes w that lot number. Connors been eating them.
Is the recall only if the product looks off (puffy), or is it for everything in that lot?
The thing is - there's almost nothing out there from them on the recall. The info I got on the watery liquid and the exploding containers is from my grocery guy. When you go to their blog that I linked above, they're super vague. "We're working hard to remove the products that don't live up to our high standards, blah blah blah." The details are in the customers' posts. They don't specify flavors, formats or anything. They just send you to their general contact form.
Not sure who's advising their PR person, but I think it's being handled pretty poorly.
Now I'm trying to read more about it. Is it an actual recall?
I think I'm done with their products. The regular yogurt tastes weird to me pretty much always! I do like the flips though.
The guy at my grocery said he'd received a recall notice that instructed them to pull everything from the shelves.
That's why I think it's being handled poorly. If they are, in fact, doing a mass recall and instructing stores that it is a recall, they should be telling customers that is what it is. Not this BS.
Yeah, I'm not impressed with Chobani's actions in this at all. It makes me suspicious that they are hiding something.
Which is sad because I love the key lime flips. But the ones I have in the fridge are from the "recalled" batch.
I had one of these today! They're my favorite.
But the thing is, it still doesn't seem clear to me that there was a recall for that batch. Correct me if I'm wrong- but doesn't it seem like someone in the comments posted about that batch, and that's where people got the idea that there was a recall for that particular batch? Chobani just said they're working on quality control?
Ugh, I just bought 4 packs since they were 2/$4 at Kroger- I usually buy dd's yoghurt from Trader Joe's, if they weren't on sale I wouldn't have bought the Chobani. I hate waste!

Huh. I just bought a ton of their single greek yogurt cups because they were on super sale at Publix. I usually prefer the Cabot yogurt anyways but I agree it seems weird that Chobani isn't being more forthcoming about it. I should check to see what we have in the fridge.

Yeah, I don't know either. That's why I used the term in quotes. My plan is to eat it anyway unless it looks/smells/initially tastes funny.

I know that in many ways it is unrelated, but this is why I won't buy Purina products either. They did the same thing with dog and horse feed a couple years ago. They had all the distributers pull it from the shelves but never did anything to let consumers know or offer any kind of refund. So peoples animals were getting sick but had no idea about the recall. I only found out due to the close relationship I had to my feed supplier.
It's one thing to recall a product. I don't like it but I appreciate when a company is willing to own up to their mistakes and let their consumers know and offer them options to refund or get a product that is ok. It's a whole other issue when they try to be all discrete about it. It screams "we screwed up but we don't want you to know so we can keep your money!"
At the store I work at all we had heard before today was that we were to pull all of it. We've started hearing more here and there but really not much.
I don't know if it is the same over there but I deal with supermarkets in my work and we have a system that has "product recalls" for when there is a danger to the purchaser/ retailer etc and "product withdrawals" for other issues, say minor quality issues or date coding errors etc. It sounds like they are doing a withdrawal because the issue is not a serious threat to the public. It involves just pulling any relevant lines from store shelves but not necessarily advising customers.
A recall is generally only done in exceptional circumstances because it is a very expensive process, especially when your product is stocked in thousands of stores. Even the withdrawal would be costing a pretty penny but the entire process will probably end up being more costly for them because they didn't tackle it head on and blamed already unhappy customers. There is a lot of goodwill lost in a situation like this.
if it's a quality issue for something to be recalled consumers aren't really notified. it'd be a voluntary market withdrawal and not a recall. If it's not a food safety issue it's still safe to consume, but the quality won't be what you're used to.

I saw all the product was gone from my store yesterday but there was no notice... Assumed they were sold out. Now I don't want to eat it what I have. Hopefully my store will exchange

Returned my yogurt no problem. I had a box from the lot mentioned. I saw in the Facebook page they would exchange but a report of another lot with mold was in the news today so no thank you! lol
Store returned no question but i mentioned why and told them another lot was in the news with mold since I saw they were restocked
