Sorry I had to post and run earlier today, work got crazy. I'm so glad I posted and asked. As always you ladies provided valuable information and suggestions. Thank you all for responding. I know I will walk when I feel the need but will definitely push myself. Already plotting my next training plan with the run/walk method! Thanks again!

Thanks do much for asking this question! I've been beating myself up every time I stopped to walk during a long run lately. This is really helping to rethink my training strategy for the next few weeks.
I'm another person who walks when I need to and through aid stations. Fwiw, my best 10k time was when I walked for a minute after 10 to 15 minutes or so.
I ran my second half yesterday. The first one I walked on and off the last 4-5 miles. This time I made it a goal to run all of it (expect for through the water stations). I only made it to the finish line 4.5 minutes earlier this time. The weather was considerably warmer yesterday compared to my first half, but at the end I was really starting to realize my method didn't seem that much faster than those using the run/walk method. I think that next time I won't be so adamant to run the entire thing.

I'm so encouraged to hear that there are other run/walk interval ladies here! I always feel like I have to qualify myself that I run/walk because I don't really feel like a real runner. I've even had people tell me that because I do walk intervals I'm not really running. But I tell myself at least I'm out there and I'm trying and doing my best!

I think I only walked once in my half this spring, but I definitely did walk through the aid station at around 6 miles. I also stopped and used the portopotty at that station.
Do what works for you though, not for somebody else. There's no shame in walking. There's actually kind of a practiced art to walking briskly and gracefully/easily transitioning back to running again. Doing it effectively is faster than shuffling the whole way.
The Galloway method is a very popular training/running method that many people choose to use. I've seen plenty of people have successful races doing them this way. For me, it's easier to keep moving then it is to constantly stop and start. It's personal preference/ability. For those that are using/considering using Galloway, just remember one piece of racing etiquette, try and move to the side of the road when your walk interval is approaching. That is my only issue with the intervals. We have a local marathon and the training groups for the marathon are Galloway groups. You're running along at your cruising pace during the race, and then BAM, a whole freakin wall of people stop running and start walking right in front of you...then you leap frog them repeating this the entire race. RAGE. Move politely to the side, and no one will notice or care that you are walking. There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking a break.

Our running group coaches have drilled this in our heads, pass on the right and move to the far right if you're going into a slower time period.

If somebody can take the time to criticize your running or run/walking or walking or skipping or whatever it is, then that person clearly isn't pushing their own boundaries. Until you can run a 2:10 26.2 AND find the breath to criticize me at the same time, STFU and keep on keeping on.
I lurk on here from time to time and I am currently signed up to do my first half in November as well as the Princess Half in Feb. This thread was so helpful. I find it difficult to run anything after 4.5 miles without walking and felt like a failure. I'm really going to look into the Galloway run/walk method now.

i be typing from me phone. typos and grammer dont count.
I took this thread to heart on my long run today and walked for a few seconds at each mile to take my drink like hey were water stops. Didn't hurt my overall pace at all. And I didn't choke on Gatorade.
