We have a minivan, for the exact reasons you mentioned. DH and I were both anti-minivan and wanted to get a three row SUV. We have two kids in carseats and a large dog and we like car camping. We just went this weekend. Having the minivan gives us a lot more space than a large SUV with better gas mileage. Also, getting the dog into the third row is much easier when you are dealing with captain's chairs. None of the SUVs we looked at made it easy to get him back there. The seats do not easily fold up with a carseat in them. We are both very practical, and when we looked how functional the minivan was compared to the SUV, it was really no contest.

We didn't plan on getting a mini van. Dh's car was in bad shape right before Pey was born so we needed to replace it. We were at the car lot of a family friend and the van was the best on the lot within our price range. It was in great shape and had low miles considering its year.
So here we are early 20's one toddler and already rocking the minivan.
The only thing I dislike about my van is that it's only a 3 door.

We didn't like minivans until DH got one from work. He's allowed to use it for personal so whenever we take long road trips, we take the van. I'm not a fan of driving it but it is just so damn convenient in terms of space. We would definitely consider getting one if we didn't have his company van to use anymore.

I just don't like them. We have a Chevy traverse so it's not really a size thing. Plus, I like having trunk space, and I can fit the 3 kids across the bench seat. We have a 3rd row when we need it, but don't have to use it every day like we would if we had a van with captain chairs in the middle row.

I picked "too big" but I should have picked "special hate flake" because it's really a combination of them being big, unattractive, and uncool. I think if I needed that kind of space I would go with an SUV.
I dislike large vehicles, I think they are ugly, most have really bad gas mileage, I don't want to get stuck driving everywhere because I'm the mom with the van (they aren't popular here), parking, quality of drive (we rented a really popular brand once and it drove horrible), I don't need that much space
We bought one when we had Charlie. I used to hate them so I bought a larger SUV with a 3rd row. And then I realized how impractical that was. We couldn't access the 3rd row with car seats on the middle seat, so Ethan had to climb in through the trunk. Also, once the 3rd row was being used, there was absolutely no trunk space and I couldn't even fit a stroller back there.
And NOW, its a good thing we got the minivan so I can fit all 4 of my kids in it easily. And I'm not having to help them in, and do their buckles and open the trunk so they can get out when I drop them off at school. Its awesome.
I don't love how it looks, but I sure love the practicality of it.
We were just on vacation and rented a minivan. We fit 3 kids (with big carseats) and four adults comfortably. I had always, always said that I would never drive a minivan, because it was so uncool, but now I'm reconsidering...
We want 3 or 4 kids and I actually don't like the look of SUVs. Minivans are just practical, and I am a mom that has decades of carting kids around to look forward to, so why not embrace it. We'll be getting one in the next month or so.
If you're huge and tall like me and my husband, and have three kids under 16 months, a minivan is a must. Unless you have the money for an SUV. We tried a Kia Sprento and couldn't fit our carseat Rf behind us with the ability to fit in our seat, we didn't have any room. Even with the seat in the middle it was wedged between our seats, and the one we were trying out didn't have a third row. We tried lots of cars and had this problem.
I don't care if I'm a stereotype. At least ill be able to leave the house!!
