Oh FFS it was one day, one book.
Little Johnny isn't going to remember this in a week and the teacher needs to Run her class in a way that she sees fit. A class punishment, which has only happened one time, during the first week of the school year isn't going to ruin anyone. If the class punishments continue then maybe a conversation with the teacher would be in order, right now, it's premature.

hmmm, its def a bit harsh, but the teacher may be trying to instill rules right from the beginning, K is difficult as they are just coming from Preschool (some not) I can see why she would do it, not that it was necessarily the best option
I know that I feel like I can never do anything right. Some parent is always mad about something.
I agree that teachers have it hard, it'd suck to have to put up with all of the parents.
I still think it's weird to take books away from kids as a punishment. Seems counterproductive, but whatever.
I do totally agree that taking away books is weird. Completely. I might take away their right to talk during library time, or sit them away from each other if possible, but not completely take away books.
