Oh, yeah, you're having a baby really soon- you might as well just move in! There's nothing really special about target, but they have everything and that is so helpful if you live somewhere where you need to drive everywhere and you have a little baby that needs to get in and out of the carseat. So, basically, just plan a day or two for each week for target trips. Their nursing tanks are awesome and they have tons of baby stuff. Most of the ones in the US also have a Starbucks in the front, too, and some sell wine.
I buy everything there, lol. But you'll have to wait for it to be open for a while so you can really take your time browsing the clearance end caps! That's my favorite.
Clothes, home decor, kitchen stuff, school supplies.
I love the dollar section (near the front of the store). I'm a teacher and get stickers, marker boards, marker pens, Spanish dictionaries, cut outs, etc. from there.
All the things. Seriously I do most of my shopping there. I get the bulk of my groceries there - cereal, bread, and canned goods all seem to be cheaper there than at the grocery store. Download the Cartwheel app to get additional deals and target.com has coupons you can print as well. Enjoy.

Just an FYI that when Target opened here - we were one of the first Canadian cities to get it - it kind of sucked for a while. They had a hard time keeping shelves stocked and not picked-over, I'm guessing because of the excitement and just learning curve. It isn't like that anymore and you may not have that issue because your store isn't in the first wave or two.
I am a $$MM gal, and we have a LINE ITEM in our budget for Target. It goes "Bill, bill, bill, groceries, TARGET, restaurants, bill". All the things, indeed.
Even if I go there with a list of specific things I need and nothing else, I WILL end up buying other random shit that I don't really need. Its just how Target works.
At this point I just go around and put things in my cart until N gets restless. Last time she missed out on some sidewalk chalk because she just couldn't keep it together for a full hour. Your loss, kid.
I'm interested to see how you like it once they open. The canadians on here seem to be disappointed more than anything. It sounds like the prices aren't as low as they are expecting and the selection doesn't really capture their attention.
This!!! Seriously, if you don't have $100 to spend on random crap you didn't know you needed, don't even go there. I have a ridiculous amount of extraneous home decor/baby stuff from Target.

Listen. I love Target Canada.
We got our Miele vacuum on sale a couple weeks ago for $100 off the price we already banked on paying. Made in germany. We bought a new electric kettle for $40 or so. Made in germany. It has nice things for reasonable prices, and not everything is made in places where workers don't earn a fair wage.
It's not a discounter, it's a good department store.
