Anybody else weird about celebrity voiceovers in commercials

I think I heard Kevin James doing a commercial for Outback or some restaurant like that the other day. All of those hours spent watching King of Queens while breastfeeding paid off when I was able to ID his voice!

A woman I know is married to professional voice actor.  Apparently this is like, a crisis in their industry, because not only are celebs getting all the commercials, they're also getting all the movies.  It used to be that Snow White or even the Little Mermaid were voiced by relative unknowns, but now they're all A-listers.

Didn't he do one where he was the voice of a puppy, too? 

Whenever I find myself wondering what he's up to these days (like if I flip through channels and see Scrubs), I think, "Oh, that's right, he's pretending to be a water purifier. And sometimes a dog."

I've read that this is an issue for models as well when it comes to magazine covers. Mags would rather put a celeb on their cover than just a pretty girl. And I do notice that you hardly ever see "just" a model (someone whose name you probably don't know) on covers any more.

I thought I was the only one sad for voice over people. I've always felt like the commercial could sell just as nicely from someone with a nice voice as it does for a celebrity. Especially from A listers like Julia Roberts. It's like, you need MORE money?
