You may remember that I got out of the hospital last week for my gastroparesis. I seemed to be doing okay until Sunday when I nearly passed out. And my heart rate was really high (in the 140s), so H brought me back to the ED. I was also having some trouble breathing. They did a cat scan and found multiple blood clots in my lungs (pulmonary embolisms). Well that bought me admission to the cardiac ICU. My heart rate was still high so they gave me something to bring it down. Only it worked too well and my blood pressure dropped to 50/30. They were able to bring it back up fairly easily, but there were at least 6 nurses and the PA in my room. On Monday, they decided to give me a clot-busting drug because my pulmonary pressure was twice normal and my heart was in distress. The drug worked, but not before giving me severe trouble breathing and a stabbing pain in my back near my left shoulder blade. They had to give me 3 doses of morphine to get rid of the pain so that I could actually breathe. I was worn out from that all, and I slept really well last night. I feel a lot better today and have even gotten out of bed to pee, but I am still here in the ICU. My heart rate has regulated and I am not going in and out of atrial fibrillation anymore. I am not sure when I will get out of the ICU or the hospital. The crazy thing is that I haven't had any nausea and actually want to eat. Hopefully my stomach is healed from the gastroparesis.

womet I am so sorry that you are going through this. So scary!! Glad that they diagnosed your PE. I hope your medical issues resolve soon. I didn't know the backstory but do they know why you have gastroparesis?
Oh man, womet, you have been through the wringer. I am so sorry you are going through all of this and so inspired by your positive attitude toward it all. You are a tough cookie! I hope you are back home soon and recovered fully.
