So, I was put in the ICU last night for high blood pressure. I finally saw a nephrologist, kidney doctor, today. He immediately changed my meds and a few things he thinks were having a negative impact on me. My BP has already gone down a bit in the last few hours. We have a plan in place. I should have home health care for the antibiotics set up by this afternoon.
The knee itself is doing well. My ortho's resident and the infectious disease doc say that it looks good. The PT said I have good strength in my leg muscles and gave me some exercises and stretches I can work on while in bed. She took me for a 15 min walk, which was great. I am supposed to work on my gait and getting it back to normal. Two weeks or so of IV antibiotics at home.
I don't yet know when I will be able to go back to work much less ride. My contract company wants me back tomorrow, but they don't seem to realize that will not happen. I think probably next Monday since I am not able to work from home.
Regardless, I am leaving tomorrow morning either with a discharge or "not under medical advisement."

It's staph but not MRSA--Thank goodness! I forget what the ID doc said. I am feeling better. I am about to call to see where my lunch is....
For the high BP, I am going back on verapamil, which I used for a decade for migraine prevention. It's a calcium channel blocker that doesn't interfere with much. I never had any side effects.
I hope things continue to look so good! Getting home will be so nice. I can't believe your contract company thinks you can just show back up to work and you're still in the hospital! Crazy people.
I am glad to hear that things are moving in a positive direction, but so sorry for all that you've gone through/are going through. You'll be back on the bike better than ever soon.

I am just catching up on all of this. Holy hell, what an ordeal! I don't know what hospital you're at but if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know! I hope your recovery starts to go a lot more smoothly from here on out.
Good to hear they are getting things under control. So sorry this turned into a giant hospital stay & trip to the ICU. I really hope your company can be understanding; it's hard when work is not helpful/flexible when you have so much to deal with.

Yikes! Sending lots of good healthy thoughts! I was thinking about you on Saturday, I was in your area for all of an hour (layover on our way home from vacation).
