The one in the Pru? I LOVED that. It was there when I was in college and I freaked out (my family is from the midwest). All my friends were like "um, okay? Dunks is better" and I yelled at them.
But yeah, it didn't last long. Bummer Their coffee was better too.
No, I never knew there was once one there It was over at Wellington where Kelly's roast beef is now, right behind/next to station landing Know where I mean?
I love the Boston cream filled donuts. I have never had anything else from there. We only have one DD close to my house, though, so it's a novelty here. When I went to NE, they are pretty much on every corner.

We used to celebrate good workouts at Boston Sports Club with a trip to KK.

I'm drinking a large, hot black hazelnut from DD right now. Not watered down. Delicious.
And when I'm done, I'm going to wash this sucker out and place it in my drawer to double cup the next time I get a medium iced because I refuse fucking REFUSE to buy another Styrofoam cup for a quarter.
IMO everything is just okay. I do like their iced tea but it's hard to screw that up. Doughnuts are disappointing. Breakfast sandwiches are pretty good (better than McD's, worse than a bakery's, if that makes sense).
PS I come from the MA perspective where they are EVERYwhere. Absolutely everywhere. I can name a Dunks on at least every other block from here (near Fenway) to Aquarium.
This. There are 2 at the end of my road across the street from one another.
I think their coffee is actually shit but it's part of the charm? lol
Well, if you are used to eating sugar covered air I can see how it would seem dense.
Ha! I remember when the KK opened up here finally getting to try one and thinking it was DISGUSTING. It was so sweet it was gross. And I'm usually a sugar nut.
I love DD's donuts. Especially the Boston creme and butternut. I used to love the vanilla creme filled but they don't make those anymore up here. But their donuts are only good when they are fresh, I've a few that are old and kind of stale and of course then they are nasty. I guess that's the problem when the stores are *everywhere*. I think we have 4 or 5 in my town alone. Same with Subway.

They've started opening in Utah recently, and of course I went because so many people rave here about their coffee. The donuts are BAD. Seriously bad - bland & dry. Only the chocolate munchkins were OK, but not worth a special trip. Even grocery store donuts are better. The coffee is pretty good, and the breakfast sandwiches are better quality than mcdonald's/BK but really heavy.
You know what shop has surprisingly good doughnuts?
Honey Dew.
I was BLOWN AWAY but it's true.
There is an ongoing fight in my house about Honey Dew (DH loves, I say they are okay).
Their coffee is okay, donuts are good, but their bagels...{fills with rage} THEY BURN EVERY FRIGGING TIME I toast them. WTF Honey Dew bagels, what the absolute fuck.
I have had a DD addiction since high school and still get at least one coffee a day.
They are franchises so its a matter of testing them out in your area, finding the best and sticking with it. They definitely don't have the same consistency as Starbucks.
Bostonians: My coworker brings in donuts from Donut King in Quincy and the first time I had one, I felt like it was the first time I'd ever had a real donut. Divine.
Love the jelly munchkins, and the breakfast sandwiches. They are not as greasy as other places. Iced lattes, iced tea, and hot chocolate are also awesome. I think their regular hot or iced coffee all tastes the same and I am not a huge fan.

I like their turkey sausage and egg on an English muffin. Iced coffee is decent without flavorings, which are too sweet, IMO.
It's not my favorite doughnut, but a doughnut would have to be filled with poison for me not to want to eat it. And I do still get a jolt of childlike excitement when I see the strawberry frosted kind. PINK FROSTING!
