It seems to have stopped now, but I had enough blood to cover (not soak) a pantiliner. The on-call doctor at my practice said it can happen sometimes and everything might be fine, but to rest and not do anything strenuous. I've already had two early miscarriages so I'm pretty stressed about this. This time we saw the baby's heartbeat though and I had my hopes up.
Maybe it's nothing but I'd really appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
---------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE - I got an appointment with a midwife in my OBGYN practice this afternoon and we saw the baby on ultrasound! He/she is growing right on track and has a strong heartbeat! Thank God!
The midwife said it could have been caused by any number of things, but she didn't really see any concerns. So I am cleared to keep running as long as I listen to my body and don't overdo anything.
Thank you all so much for your kind, supportive words. It's been a good afternoon!

Thoughts and prayers! I know everyone's experience is different, but I spotted during first tri with both of my pregnancies. Rest up, and I hope you get some peace of mind soon.
Did you do any exercise, sex or physical activity today? Occasionally, that could trigger it.
I did go on a fairly fast-paced 7 mile run with my friends this morning. I've been keeping it below 5 miles since I found out I was pg, but I felt good this morning and the run didn't seem too strenuous for me. I mentioned it to the on-call doctor but she didn't seem to think it was a big deal. I might be a little dehydrated. I wonder if that could play into it. Drinking lots of water, resting, and trying not to google.
So far there's been no more blood. I really hope this was just a weird one-time thing.

mekiakoo had some bleeding after running early on. I *think* she was told to stop running, but don't quote me on that.
I'm sorry you are going through this! Can you ask to go in for an U/S on Monday and see what's going on in there?
I had something similar happen, right around 8-9 weeks for me also. I went in for a scan and the baby was fine, but the placenta had started to form and it was right over my cervix...the doc thought that, in conjunction with my activity (I was also still running quite a bit and doing a pretty intense boot camp class) was a likely cause of the bleeding. He suggested I stop all high-impact activity for the time being. I am a longtime runner and it was really hard to stop, but after the NT scan a few weeks later, we found that the placenta had moved up and I was able to start running again.
Keeping my fingers crossed that everything is OK for you!

Thoughts and prayers for you and your bean. My SIL ran during her pregnancy. She would bleed if she overdid it. Hopefully, it's just a side effect from the running.
Was the blood red or brown? I also had spotting at 8 weeks pregnant right after I saw the HB. Everything was fine. I would request an ultrasound on Monday for peace of mind.
I had some bleeding around the 8-9 week mark too; it turned out to be nothing. However, I remember being extremely anxious about it and my OB was happy to have me come in immediately for a quick u/s to ensure that everything was ok. I would definitely recommend calling and asking for one for peace of mind.
Lots of positive thoughts coming your way! In hope it's nothing.
Oh you guys are making me feel so much better. Thank you for sharing your stories. I haven't had any more blood (it was pink/red), just a tiny bit of brown spotting here and there so maybe it was just an irritation to my cervix from all the running and housework I did yesterday.
I plan to call my doctor first thing on Monday. I already had an appointment and u/s scheduled for Friday (9 weeks), but hopefully she will see me earlier.

Great update! They should check you for a cervical polyp. That was what was causing my bleeding, and it always picked up when I exerted myself in some way. (Not that I was running multiple miles, but even stuff like walking the dog would aggravate it.)

Oh good idea. I have an appointment with my regular NP on Friday, so I will ask her about that. It would be nice to know the specific reason for this happening so that I'm not freaking out every time I exercise.
