"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
I wondered the other day in the school thread about elementary times... I'm in central rural. Chilerellanos is not too far from me. She is pretty awesome. She's at WDW right now and posting the cutest pictures! Jealous!
I wonder if they're including the crime that happens involving tourists or just people who are residents of NV.
I have a close friend who lives in the suburbs of Vegas and has had several violent crimes happen around her. She's talked about her fears of crime for a couple of years now. She's looking to leave the area because of crime alone.
Also, I lived in Vegas as a teenager and it was scary as hell for me. There was some serious gang violence going on in my school. And that was 20 years ago.
IL - Robbery Utah - highest rate of online porn subscriptions...I'm not really sure why that is the worst thing about a state... Michigan - Highest unemployment rate - sad, but nothing surprising about that California - most air pollution - I'm going to agree with a PP that the state government and budget issues are much bigger problems currently
I can believe it. I'm still waiting for the day when I can get some curbside recycling up in here. And DH's family makes fun of us for using reusable grocery bags and buying local food and I get excited when I meet people my age at our recycling center (lame). So yeah.
I mean, I know we have crime here because I'm signed up for an alert every time something happens, but I was never around it. My parents moved to Green Valley when I was 6 because the area we were in was going down the tubes (Off of Boulder near Sam's Town). But I guess I've been pretty sheltered from it where I've lived. I definitely won't hit up parts of NLV or downtown at night though.
Green Valley in Henderson for HS. It was a really rich school. I went to a nearby middle school which was HELL. I can't remember the name but it was so.bad. I had my hair pulled every day and my lunch money literally stolen from me every day. I dreaded it.

I graduated from GV too! LOL Small freakin world.
The first year I went was when I was in 9th grade and it was a BIG DEAL for me to be in HS because where I'm from HS doesn't start until 10th grade.
Also, I was one of the first students in that school. I was there the first year. It was a big deal at the time because there was some controversy when it opened because it was SO FANCY and expensive. And man, a lot of kids were fucking FILTHY rich. A lot of Mercedes and BMW's in the parking lot.
lol, HUGE difference from the middle school I attended. HUGE difference. I went from major gang violence in middle school to coke addicts in high school.

I went from the worst commute to taxes. Next I'm planning on the state known for infertility. I know it's no laughing matter, but I am thanking God we don't want any more kids.
I googled but none of them ring a bell. I'm from Henderson and lived directly across the street from GV HS, so would go to the corresponding middle school (well, in 1991).
Where I grew up and live now: Virginia: highest number of alcohol-related motorcyle deaths
Where I lived for 3 years, yikes: Mississippi: highest rate of obesity (35.3% of total population)
BONUS facts: Mississippi ranks poorly in the most number of categories. These include highest rate of child poverty (31.9%), highest rate of infant mortality (1.01%), lowest median household income ($35,078), highest teen birth rate (71.9 per 1,000 women aged 15 to 19) and highest overall rate of STDs.
We are hoping to move to Michigan which says Michigan: highest unemployment rate (13.6%). But no source. When I googled it said May 2013 rate was 8.4% which is a big difference...
Virginia here and it is interesting reading that it is motorcycle deaths when the beltway was shutdown today due to an accident involving a motorcycle. Makes me think it was a fatality.
I was surprised that it was motorcycle deaths. My H and I have one. Yikes.
Live in the Arson state Left the Tax state Used to live in the Identify Theft state which is funny because I was actually a victim (such a strong word, lol) of identity theft there.

Well, the chart says it's unemployment. I say the most screwed up thing about MI are:
1. Residents can carry concealed weapons. 2. Ted Nugent 3. Sen. Roger Kahn (R) who spent valuable time, effort, and money on making a law that it's mandatory for students to allow time to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Students are not compelled to actually say the Pledge and the schools are required to ensure that students who do not participate are not bullied. Flags must be present in each classroom and over each building.
Crime rates are out of fucking control but Sen. Kahn just had to deal with oh-so-important issue first!!
