Anything educational, like the History Channel or Discovery Channel. I love shows like this, and find them interesting enough to pay attention, but don't get so invested that I can't fall asleep.
I like to watch Jon Stewart before bed. Stephen Colbert if I'm not too tired.
However, if i need to pas out and want some tv that lets me pass out - Chopped or Iron Chef work well. While I like to watch them, I am great at falling asleep to them. Like not getting sucked into a plot.

Ugh. You have touched a nerve here and I'm going to rant.
For a long time it used to be true crime stuff on Court TV.... Forensic Files, Cold Case Files, that sort of thing. Then they changed to tru-tv and ditched those shows for fake trashy redneck crap
So then it was Friends. But Nickelodeon is screwing things up for me there. The New Adventures of Old Christine? wtf is that? No.
I'm back to Forensic Files on HLN, but that's only on the weekends.
Antiques Roadshow Big Bang Theory Anything on Investigation Discovery Too Cute!
Antiques Roadshow and Rick Steves' Europe were the soundtrack to Lucy's first year, lol
Chopped was on during the hours that dh was still at work but c was kind of fussy and we both were half awake. So I'd put her in the bouncer, I'd lay on teh couch, and I'd leave chopped on very very quiet in the background.
I did also find that I could watch diners, drive ins and dives while feeding C on the couch. It never made me crave food or wish I could get up and get food w/o disturbing kid. lol. Guess the food on there isn't my style. Usually I was more disgusted than anything.

HIMYM is a common one for me, and I like Criminal Minds (though I try to stay up to find out the killer so it's one to get sleepy but not to fall asleep watching).
