I have all the books I could need, and what more could I need than books? I shall only engage in commerce if books are the coin. -- Catherynne M. Valente
Ha, just personal preference! That place really brings me wayyyy back. I was also obsessed with Victoria's Secret body products back in the day - they were allll the rage. I especially loved Her Majesty's Rose.
Out of curiosity, what grown up body care items do you use now that you like/think work well (lotion, body wash, etc)? Just asking for a friend of mine who needs to upgrade her products from her 14 y/o self

I'm really not into speciality bath & body products anymore. I have some Philosophy and L'Occitane stuff that is nice, but I'm just as likely to use Vaseline lotion and Dove body wash.
I really like Bliss products too, but I rarely buy them. I stock up every time we stay at a W hotel, lol.
No. Every Christmas without fail we get a small gift bag from B&BW from MIL, filled with all different washes/lotions/scents, and then we get actual gift sets from her sister. The thought is nice, but I am stocked up for the next 400 years, since I would only use those products in an emergency. I just don't prefer them, and I really only ever shop there around Fall so I can get their Fall scented handsoaps/candles.
The only things I like are the body sprays (Sweet Pea for LYFE) and the hand soaps.
So no, I don't like get stuff from Bath and Body Works for Christmas and only because I buy it for myself already.
I can't remember why, but I brought back Sweet Pea lotion for my roommates and friends in Spain.
They went INSANE for it. They had their co-workers asking me to bring back boxes of it (and VS Love Spell).
I was always amused that my roommates had access to the best cosmetic lines from countries like Italy and France, but they only wanted to wear Bath & Body Works, ha.

Eh - only the soaps and wall flower thingies (occasionally a candle, but I'm not a big candle person). MAYBE a car freshener - no to lotions though. And then, only if the giver knows what scents I like (mandarin orange, kitchen lemon, white citrus, fresh bamboo, and clean mist = OK. Anything with vanilla, sugar, or coconut in the description = blech).

I got some of the honeysuckle as a gift and liked the way it smelled. Overall, I do like it when people get me body wash as a gift because it's guaranteed to be useful.
I always snag the handsoaps at the SAS. I'm quite persnickety with my scents there. I love Cotton Blossom, but it's very hard to get. It went on sale briefly from their warehouse last week but sold out before I could hit buy. I'm a bit leery of getting it from eBay because I've had several horrible transactions with beauty products before.

I HAD THIS.
My college roommate used it and I thought it was sooooooo awesome I had to get my own.
Warm Vanilla Sugar is like hell vomit in a bottle. It makes me gag.
Made me laugh out loud. For some reason, people tend to lump Warm Vanilla Sugar and Cucumber & Melon together as 'smells that everyone likes, right?'.
I hate cucumber melon with the fire of a thousand suns. And everything...EVERYTHING they have ever had that was pear scented? I swear they just re-bottled cucumber melon. They smell the same to me. I love pear scented stuff normally but theirs is ass.
Nope, because it's a 99% chance of getting me the wrong scent. Plus I think everyone knows that when you get a BBW gift basket it's a blatant sign that they don't know you very well and have no idea of what to get you. It's at the same level of giving a Hickory Farms Summer Sausage and Cheese Roll basket for Christmas. If you have to give a person a present and don't know what to get them, ask a mutual friend what they like.....don't ever walk into BBW and start looking at the gift baskets.
No. I see them as a "I don't know you, and/or don't care enough about picking out a gift for you to put any effort into it" gift. Also, I don't think their stuff is that great, at all.
Get me some Bliss lotions, though, and now we're talking.

No. I feel as though it's a lot of people's "female go-to gift". It'd be different if it was something I wanted (like one year I got a spa-like hand wax thing) but most gifts I've been given from there I've given away. The scents are so strong and just scream "chemicals!" to me.
Not really. I finally used up all of mine last year. I had a ton, literally like several years worth, lol. I like lotion without scent. I'm not a fan of their products in general.
