What kind of work? For just mowing/weeding/trimming stuff, my H likes his Sloggers garden shoes: I ordered them for him for the same reason; a pair of his sneakers ended up as "work shoes" because he kept wearing them for yard work... but then he still complained about his feet being wet after being out there. Well, duh, your Sauconys were not made for mowing dewy grass.
Mowing, climbing the ladder and cleaning gutters, raking, painting, weeding, etc.
I could also use jacket suggestions. I bought him a nice Carhartt last year and he won't wear it. He hates it.
Hm, I'm not sure the Sloggers are great for the ladder and roof tasks, since you want something that provides very sure footing, and these are clogs.
I'm no help with the coat. I bought H a white and gray Helly Hansen a couple years ago through my work purchasing program (20% off wholesale), and it ended up as a work coat for the same reason as the sneakers. Sigh.

Honestly, he keeps losing nice clothing to paint and damage. I'm sick of it.

I get it. I finally got H on board with the idea of "working clothes" and regular stuff, but it took a while. He was using it all interchangeably.
What are you looking for? High quality, stand on your feet and dig ditches all day good? Red Wings.
Mowing the lawn and occasionally mulching or planting? Frankly I'd just go with a designated "yard work" pair. H has a rotation, his good shoes, his OK shoes (formerly good shoes), and crappy dog scooping shoes (formerly OK shoes). When the crappy shoes die, you just rotated down.
Eta: you answered the first part while I was typing. Which took me 20 mins bc big boss called in the middle
You could try Romeos for work shoes. As far as a work jacket -- what does he want in a work jacket? Canvas Carhartts can be kind of stiff, dh prefers a fleece or a heavyweight sweatshirt like this.
H used to wear tennis shoes for all those things but they got gross fast. He's since switched to steel toe boots, and they are lasting much longer. It's not ideal in the summer, but he prefers the safety when working with tools anyway, so it works.
Jacket- H just got a Kirkland one from Costco. It's $20 or $25 and good for cooler temps (but not cold). Very clean lines, so I can't see how he'd hate it.
DH has a pair of carhart boots that he uses for outdoor work - mowing, cleaning gutters, hanging Christmas lights on the roof, etc.
He also has a lined flannel shirt that he uses as his top layer. I think it was from ll bean. If it's really cold, he adds a lightweight down vest over the flannel.

I second the romeos. My H actually wears them all the time and even has a steel toe pair for work but they are great for outside work. It is what I mostly use mine for, along with when I go to MIL's and work in her barn. They hold up really well also.
Muck boots are pretty great for yard work. I can't justify them for me, but my parents farm and love theirs. They have the taller versions, but just for regular yard work I think those shoes would be good.
