It's better to raise it a bit now rather than not do so and have to make a larger bump in the future, imo.
Good point. I agree.
In the end, this is a business for you and you have to be making enough money that it is worthwhile to you.
ETA: I think that the gym membership price vary widely by geography. I have lived places where the norm was $35/month (my most recent data point) and other places where gyms were $150+/month. You need to keep your market in mind more than what people over this wide of a geographic area pay.
I pay $240/month for my gym, they've raised the price twice, but it's next to my office so I would probably pay twice as much. It includes a lot of classes, but cycling, not spin. And IMO, there's a big difference.
I also pay $120/month for my yoga studio. They raise the price ALL THE TIME. And they always seem to be canceling classes. But it has a good vibe and is 2 blocks from my house, so . . .
Amen on the difference between cycling and Spin!!!

My old gym (we moved) was about $120/mnth for a couples membership. They raised our rates probably 3 times over the 5 years we were members but always gave advance warning and communicated the reason for the increase. And it was never more than $3/mnth. The increases never bothered me because I knew the $ was put to good use. I think as long as you communicate well and in advance your members will be reasonable.
