Anytime the kids sleep in their rooms, the doors are closed. Mostly the nap in the basement family room, I'm in the room unless doing laundry or other chores.
At night their doors are closed, well cracked not completely shut so that we can peek in the mornings, as is ours. We don't use a monitor, we can hear them scream just fine.

We always close his door for naps and at night. It started with us not wanting the cat in his room at night and plus the bathroom is across from his room and it would wake him.
Closed for naps and night. He needs it pitch black, plus the kids rooms are on the main level and I don't want to worry about making noise while he sleeps.

She sleeps in our room so our door is mostly open at night so we can hear if Dylan gets up. When I put her down in there for her nap, I close the door otherwise Dylan would wake her up.
Dylan's door is closed when he sleeps, though he doesn't really nap anymore.
B normally sleeps with her door closed for naps and nighttime. Last summer she slept with the door cracked because there was no A/C in her room and I was worried about it getting too hot. She did just fine. Lately (and I mean several months now) I lay her in her crib and she is quiet, until I leave the room and shut the door. It seems to be the shutting the door that is the trigger, not me leaving the room. For her nap just now, I left her door open. She didn't make a peep. Just laid right down to sleep. I think she wants her door open. I dunno how well she will sleep that way though (from a noise point of view)
Pretty much always closed to keep noise and dogs out. Occasionally if we're having a difficult MOTN wakeup, I'll leave it cracked so as not to risk the sound of closing it setting him back off.

For DS, closed for both. DD is going through a phase where she wants it cracked open but I'm hoping to go back to closed for her too. I hate tip-toeing around the house while they sleep.

So, for her nap today, I left the door open. The dog was inside when a friend showed up to help us install a new stove (H was still out picking it up). Anna went nuts barking. B slept right through it, even with the door open. I closed her door at that point. She woke up after napping an hour total, and completely flipped when she woke up. Screaming and crying. I think it's because she wanted the door open. I'm going to leave the door open for awhile and see if it makes a difference. If she doesn't sleep or she wakes up, we will know to close it again.
My nephew will sleep through anything. And I do mean anything. I'm hoping B will be like him.
Always closed so she can't hear everything, her room is pretty close to the kitchen and living room. She is awake when I put her down and I shut the door.
