I get lots of baked goods that all either go back to the kids, or get tossed. Don't do a cheap gift just to give them something. Honestly, I really, really love kind notes.
This post is making me feel better at being shocked that the suggested gift amt per child was $140 at DD's school. (It's in lieu of individual gifts, but I was still sort of amazed.)

Yes. The gift is $. They take all the "donations" and divide among the teachers. At the end of the day, I'm fine with it, but I was surprised by the amt because we were told it was to keep costs down versus individual gifts. This is HCOL area, with for the most part pretty well-off families though.
