By 2 years, he really enjoyed coloring with the Crayola Triangular Crayons. He uses Color Wonder Markers under our supervision. We save the Color Wonder for Restaurants.
I haven't been brave enough to try paint, but he has painted at school.
We bought this paper, and just tape a sheet of it to the top of his activity table.
ETA: E breaks crayons like it's his job. So we save the pieces, and melt them down (in the oven, in silicone baking pans) to create new, chunky crayons.
Oh I keep meaning to buy glue sticks! We glued pompoms and I just glued them down where they put them w Elmer's. It worked pretty well but I think they'll like the independence of the stick.

Less than a year, but they do a ton of art at her daycare and she'd been coloring and painting in the baby room. She never put stuff in her mouth that she shouldn't have. We are very lucky. So, we had her coloring at home early, but she does prefer pens and pencils and "writing," to "drawing."

I bet they'll love glue sticks! C always asks for "more glue please" when she wants to make a project.

DS is 17 months and doesn't care much about crayons, but he loves pens and paper (DH writes notes a lot) and will do anything to get his hands on them.

DS got an art table and art supplie for Christmas when he was 18 months. DD started using his stuff when she was about a year. There are markers that don't make a mess. They only work on specific paper and if you write on anything else, it's just clear. We have those, washable markers, washable crayons, and lots and lots of stickers.
I know this is a pointless question, but if you are babysitting kids (and watching your own), are you looking at developmental skills charts or lists or activities in their age ranges? Or are your services more playroom 24/7? Idk, I would just assume you would be up on this stuff if this is your current job. Especially if it made it easier to keep the kids busy, even if the parents were just looking for a caregiver to babysit vs. teach.
I have a 10 month old, and also baby sit a 10 month old. We read lots of books, I sing songs to them, do finger plays,do sensory activities, and they play. Other than that they are eating or napping. I have looked at charts and read books of toddler activities, but was trying to get an idea of when children used crayons and markers that posters here know first hand.
Also, when I worked in child care while in college, I worked in the 0-12 month room, and then briefly in the young toddler room 12-18mo. (where I didn't remember their being crayons, but wasn't for sure), and then for one year in the older toddler 18-24 mo. Where I knew there were crayons. So that's another reason I was asking. Trying to remember projects and things I had done with them.
I feel like you've been really critical of me lately, and I'm not sure what I did that made you feel the need to act that way toward me.
