I have debated with myself about whether I actually want to post this, but I am so grateful that some of you have shared in the past as it is helping us navigate this, so here goes.
We had our NT scan Tuesday. All was not well. We were given uncomfortably high odds of a chromosomal problem, among other possible issues. So we move on to CVS.
I am so scared and feel so helpless. This week has been awful, and it could get a lot worse before it gets better. Despite that, as of now anyway, I am glad we opted for the testing (even though I'm under 30). If anyone has any words of wisdom or CVS experience, I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

Huge hugs. I can't imagine how you feel right now. Did they suggest anything else other than a CVT? Bloodwork, M21? I really hope you can see a specialist who knows what they're doing so they can calm your fears or at least give you more information so you can make an informed decision.

Thank you. We did the bloodwork that goes hand-in-hand with the NT screen. However, even without the bloodwork they quoted us 20-30% chance of chromosomal anomoly. Today they called with the post-bloodwork risks and said 1:5 downs and 1:5 for trisomy 18, but they couldn't tell me specifically how the bloodwork affected the results. They offered M21 but because of HoneySpider's story, I know that it only detects a few trisomies. That's why we are opting for the CVS - it will be more definitive.
We are really hopeful that the genetic testing comes back normal (obviously), but even if it does we're not out of the woods. The measurement that we got is associated with a litany of other serious medical issues and pregnancy loss as well...
From the research I have done there is still a decent chance of having a healthy baby. I am desperately trying to focus on that.

I'm sorry you are dealing with, especially over the holidays. Focus on how much you love your baby, hope for the best, but also trust yourself that you will be strong enough to deal with whatever happens.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.
I had a CVS earlier this year. The actual procedure was a bit uncomfortable, but not awful. Like a prolonged pap. I didn't have any cramping, and only a bit of spotting afterward. I took it easy over the weekend, butbfelt fine.
Feel free to page or PM me if you want an ear, or have more specific questions about anything - I'll be around more over the holiday since I'm off work. (((hugs))) and good thoughts for you!

I hate that this is happening to you right before the holidays. I hope your results come back clear. Just remember that the odds are still in your favor.
I know it is an uncomfortable and touchy topic, but if your results come back showing a chromosomal abnormality, please know that there are women here who will support you 100% if you choose to terminate. I was going to PM you but felt that putting it out there might be better. You will certainly be in my thoughts.
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm sure the stress is intense. Even with scary odds, the odds are still higher that everything is fine than they are that there's a serious problem. I hope your CVS brings happier results.
I am so sorry you are going through this and wish you all the best.
I do want to clarify one thing, M21 does only look for trisomy 13,18 & 21 (downs) but that is just one brand of cell free DNA testing. They were one of the firsts and they are one of the most popular but my MFM has a choice of 3-4 different brands that can test for different things including some partial chromosomal abnormalities.
OP, I know you already have a chosen plan of action I just want to put this out there in case others weren't aware.
Thanks. The perinatologist did not mention this to us.
