I am more than just a little bit excited for our plans this year! DH and I are going to "The Bootlegger's Ball" with my sister and BIL. It is a 20's themed party that includes hotel room, dinner, casino games, champagne toast and breakfast. They are encouraging you to dress up in 20's style outfits. I am going to get the last of my accessories for my outfit tomorrow. DH and BIL are taking a half day on Tuesday so we can check in right at 3pm and start appetizers and drinks in our rooms before the party.
Going to our friends' place. They're expecting, as is the other couple who'll be there. The three of us are all due in March/April. Should be a wild night!
I'm looking forward to it but also dreading being extra tired Wednesday. I just need so much sleep! I've already asked DH if we can leave at 11 so I can go to bed at midnight.
We have a party at our house every NYE, so that's what we're doing. We're anticipating ~35 people this year. Lots of food, drinking, fireworks, and Cards Against Humanity. Fun times. I don't plan on drinking as much as I usually do, though. I have a ton of stuff to do on the 1st and don't want to be miserably hungover.
Cowering in other people's homes waiting for it to all be over. New Year's is the worst here. So we're going to stop by one party, and then settle at another.
we're having a small party. Specifically geared to our friends that have kids - starting at 3. Somepeople will come early and leave early. A few people will come later and stay the night.
As we have a 5 year old, I don't know how this will all play out. What time he'll go to bed, when he'll wake up, etc. But - DH and I were both in the mood to stay home and do low key this year.
Although if I had the chance to go to YOUR party.... hell, I'd drop everything.
New Year's Eve is more of a family event in my family, so DH and I will be going to his parents home that night. Then, on Wednesday, we'll be going there too to have lunch.
After all the drama that both FIL and MIL pulled for Christmas, I'm dreading this new holiday! please wish me luck!
for the first time in as long as i can remember, we're going to a party. it'll be interesting-i'm "friends" with a bunch of people there, our DHs have never really met. long story, but i'm hoping it'll be fun.
We will stay home, and cook dinner. We usually go to a local Italian grocery and get things there. My husband might make bread. I plan on live-streaming the Phish show.
We're going to a concert downtown. We tried to get a hotel for the night but they were all booked up...in June
So there will be no drinking as we will have a 40 minute drive home after.
I can't remember where you live but I would try priceline and hotwire today or tomorrow. People cancel last minute and hotels open up rooms through those sites, at least in my town. I've found incredible last minute deals for NYE that way.
Hopefully staying home - neither of us has been feeling too well lately, and plus I just don't feel like going anywhere. I asked MH if he'd prefer me to make a nice meal or a bunch of little snacks, and he voted for the snacks.
We might invite friends over but I doubt they'll be able to make it so I'm wondering if we should even bother. And I'm hoping that our parents don't guilt us into coming by, because again I really do not want to leave the house.
Georgetown waterfront party with open bar and food buffets with a couple friends. I haven't dressed up and gone out to celebrate NYE in a few years. I am looking foward to it.
Not sure yet. Deciding between a party at a local restaurant / hotel - dj, dancing, lots of champagne or just going to dinner and then celebrating NYE at home and going to brunch New year's day.
Assuming I feel better by tonight, we're flying up to DC to see my brother. He and H are going to play golf while FSIL and I are going shopping. We'll probably have dinner at some Korean BBQ that he's been wanting to try then who knows. He wants to go to his friends place then go out to a bar later but I hate going to people's homes that I don't know...so well see.
I may not even be well enough to fly at all. In that case, it'll be a quiet evening at home.
we're going to one of those all you can drink parties. I even bought a sparkly dress.
but I've had a bad Crohn's flare (fever, pain, malaise, GI issues) for about 8 days now so I don't know how long I'll last if I'm totally sober and uncomfortable.
We're old and boring, no big party plans. My parents are going to host a hot pot dinner at their place so we'll hang out with family, stuff our faces, and relax.
Mmm hot pot. I'd rather be doing this. Unfortunately my parents only do this on Thanksgiving. We always eat super light at H's family Thanksgiving in the morning so we can stuff ourselves full at my parents that night with hot pot lol.
