Both my guys were peanuts,so I woke them if they went over 4 hours. That almost never happened, though. And I only did it till they were back up to birthweight. Then my doctor said there was no need to do it.
We woke her every three hours and was told to do it for a month! We did it, lol. It sucked. We even woke her during the day at the three hour mark. She was borderline jaundice and lost a bunch of weight, so I think we probably needed to. She was back to birth weight by two weeks, I should have stopped then. Next time I won't do it a month.

We woke every 2 hours until birth weight, and then for months we did every 2 hours in the day and let her go as long as she wanted at night. She pretty consistently STTN (10p-5a) at 5 weeks old.
I don't think I ever did even though our pedi said not to let her go longer than 3 hrs bc she was slow to gain...I figured she would wake up when she was hungry and she was never really sleeping more than 4 hrs anyway.
Until they reached their birth weight. C never needed to be woken because he basically never slept. Shoot, he STILL wakes all night. O wakes himself and eats on his own schedule. He wont eat if you wake him and he's not ready so there is no point to try and get him to eat in the MOTN. That said, I wouldn't let them go 6-8 hours at this age but my pedi said 4-6 is perfectly acceptable.

I woke B in the hospital to feed, but I didn't for P. We actually got a 5 hour stretch from P while we were still in the hospital because our night nurse was awesome and didn't wake us up when she saw we were both sleeping. Both my kids had slight jaundice, but they still ate enough that it went away quickly with their regular feedings and a little time close to the window during the day.

We did for the first few weeks. She was slow to gain weight and was super sleepy because of jaundice so the pedi recommended it. I'm not sure what I'll do next time. I guess it will just depend on the circumstances.
I was told by my pediatrician to not wake after they regained their birth weight for a healthy, full term baby. Anna was sleeping long stretches from the beginning and I just enjoyed it.
