We know a lot of kids named jack/Jackson, Sophia, max, samantha/Aidan
I have a Max (Maxwell) and I thought it would be super popular.
We had one Max in the neighborhood but they moved away and his DC teacher said she hadn't met another Max in the entire school.
I have three boys, and we have yet to encounter a single Max in any of their classes or on any of their sports teams. I have a friend from college with a Max, but we don't see him. I am really surprised we haven't encountered more. The Jacks, Williams, Andrews, Alexanders, Benjamins, Liams, Lukes, James, Jacksons, and Sams have been plentiful. We seem to encounter a lot of boys with G names, too--Grant, Griffin, Grayson, plus other -son names like Carson. Oliver and George seem to be popping up a lot in my circle now. We don't know any Masons, Aidens, or Ethan's despite their popularity.
So far, the names I have seen repeated at the girls' schools are:
Addison Avery Claire
Harper Lila/Lilah/Lyla Olivia Sophie Sydney
Ben Charlie Colin Connor Logan Ryan
Surprisingly, we have yet to meet another young Emily, but there is another Kate the same age as mine. My girlfriend has a son named James, but mine is named after H.
that's my daughter's name and i spell her nickname with one L. to each their own i just don't like it
I'll join you in the "I have a Lillian/Lily and I hate it when people spell it Lilly" camp. I'm pretty sure DD will start sassing on people who do it soon, since she can spell and write her name now.
I'm shocked to see Soren on your list. We know 1 Soren, and that was the first time I had ever heard that name.
I'm happy that DD's name hasn't been mentioned at all.
LOL, there is one in DD2's toddler class of 6 kids and one in another class at daycare, I think. The number of Soren's has apparently quadrupled since 2000 (still not a high number - just under 400 babies in 2012, but quite a spike). I don't think it will crack the top 10 or dethrone all the -aidens, but I think it is much harder to find a unique boy's name that is still fairly easy to pronounce. DH and I had no agreement on boy's names, so luckily DD2 turned out to be a girl (we found out when she was born).
DD1 and DD2 do not have popular names. There were only 19 girls with the same name as DD1 in the year she was born, and she's only cracked the top 4000 once, LOL. DD2 at least has a couple of hundred other girls with her name, but hasn't cracked the top thousand since the 40s.
Now I'm curious as to what your DD"s names are! lol
Names are hard!
ETa: that link is awesome! In 2012, there are only 681 other girls with DD's name.
There are 2 Sawyers in DS's class of 10 kids. That wasn't a name I thought I would see repeated. Maybe the parents were Lost fans (these kids were born 2009-2010).
Many of which were already mentioned, there seems to be a unnatural use of y and x in names lately. I also see a good number of more traditional names. I told DH I was hesitant about our name for DD3 because it seems like we pick out names and then the name is everywhere a year or two later. I guess we have very trendy taste? DD3 will be named Aurora and I am worried that because of the release of the Sleeping Beauty movie this summer people will assume we named her after that or everyone will be using that name.
