I bought a cake and ice cream last night while grocery shopping. And it's no one's birthday.
I bought an entire sheet cake from Costco last week, and it's no one's birthday around here either. I ate some, and then cut it up and froze it in pieces. Now I can thaw and eat cake any time
I had every intension of buying Girl Scout cookies today & eating half the box on my commute home. Of all days there was no cookie sales by the train. Ugh.
On lunch today I went to the patio at work & slept on a couch. It was heavenly until some stupid sales person called me & woke me up.

I 100% admit that my love of frozen food is unorthodox, but frozen cake is amazing. I've only tried it without frosting, but cake is light enough to not be too hard to eat while frozen. Just in case you don't feel like waiting for it to thaw

That sounds strange, but I'm not above giving it a whirl. LOL.

I agree frozen cake is great. My parents usually have some in their freezer so I always check when I'm there. I can't really freeze stuff like that because I'll just eat it within a week anyway.

This is me and sweet potato chips. Or flavor blasted goldfish. Or homemade Chex muddy buddies. But this is pregnant or not pregnant.
I have really let loose on carbs during pregnancy. :-# I would almost never let myself eat potato chips non-pregnant because I know how it will end LOL.
This is me with sour cream and onion chips. Cannot stop! We also never keep chips in the house because they disappear at an alarmingly fast rate. But I can't blame the sour cream and onion chips on H - he doesn't like them. It's all me this time. :/

I love those frozen Sarah Lee cakes. I keep them in the freezer like at the store and then eat them frozen too. yummm
I just had an appointment today, where they weighed me for the first time in 6 weeks (I don't have a scale at home). I'm almost 19 weeks and I've gained 17 pounds I complained to H that I've gained too much, but I can't bring myself to tell him how much. So now I'm sitting here eating chocolate chips. Ugh.
You're being hard on yourself, Katie. Your gain in 19 weeks is not that crazy. A lot of women gain a pound a week, so you're behind the curve. Also, you were very slim before you got pregnant, so maybe your body needs a little extra padding for the baby. I read a fitness/health blog and the blogger is pregnant. She gained 20+ pounds by 18 weeks or so -- and she does Cross Fit 3-4 times a week. Maybe snacking on chocolate chips isn't the healthiest decision, but it's not the *worst* decision, either. Don't beat yourself up, lady.
Thank you, D2M, that makes me feel a lot better. It's so hard not to look at the books and judge how I'm doing based on the 'this is the average weight gain by this week' stuff. At the end of the day, I just need to focus on being healthy. You're the best
well now im just hungry and want cake haha. It has been so hard for me to go grocery shopping, I always pick up at least one crap thing and then eat it in less than 2 days. I baked a funfetti cake the other day and didn't like the icing I put on it, but it didn't stop me from eating pretty much the entire cake so far

The books and apps with the "averge" weight gain are crap. I was so upset about an early 10-15 lb gain when the books were saying I should have only gained 5. I brought it up with my doc and he was totally unconcerned. He said that some ppl gain early and then level off for a bit while others don't gain in the beginning but pack it on fast later.
I completely thought he was just saying that to make me feel better but he turned out to be right. After my initial gain, I've held steady for a good 8 weeks. I'm almost at 24w now and am just now starting to see the scale move up slightly again and haven't really changed my eating habits. Trust yourself and trust your body - focus on the amazing things it's doing right now. You're still well within the normal range.
Thank you, pinotgrig Sometimes I think having less information about averages and milestones would be more relaxing! It's awesome to hear that you've evened up a bit with the gaining, because I was afraid of that. I feel a lot better now
