Where do you typically keep clothing that has been worn, but does not need to be washed before being worn again? Jeans, for instance?
I don't feel comfortable with putting them back in the closet or dresser if they've been worn, yet are clean enough to wear again.
At the end of each week I end up with a pile of random things on the suede bench at the foot of our bed. I need a better system that avoids both a pile of gently worn clothing, and keeping worn items mixed with clean.
Our hamper has a lid, so we just end up with a pile of clothes on top of the hamper. Which then obviously falls behind the hamper when we go to put dirtier things inside.
I hate putting them back in the closet, so I put them on a chair, but it is messy, I know. I just hate the idea of hem touching my clean clothes, even though I consider them clean enough for re-wearing. As a result, I probably do too much laundry.
I have a bin on a shelf in my closet I toss things into. I don't have a problem hanging worn clothes though. I have deemed them clean enough to wear again there is no reason they can't hang up. The bin is mainly b/c I am lazy and on Sunday's I hang up the items that are in it when laying out my clothes for the week.
If I don't put them back in the closet they usually get washed again (in H's mind everything that isn't in the closet is dirty). My favorite place to store them in on the bathtub
If they are clean enough to wear again, they go back in the closet. I do pile things up on the dresser, but when I get around to cleaning up, they go back in the closet.

my husband has a suit butler he got from his grandfather. He hangs his pants over that, and I often throw stuff on top... yes, I'm the slob in the family!
I have a couple of canvas bins on my closet floor - one for worn jeans, one for worn bras/sports bras/maybe yoga pants. Sleep clothes are the other things that get worn again, and I usually tuck them under my pillow. Most other stuff gets folded/hung back with its friends - it's just not that dirty. If it's too dirty to hang back up, it's probably too dirty to wear again.
I have a small cloth-lined laundry basket next to my dresser. My worn-but-still-clean clothes get folded and put in there for the next wearing. We put our workout clothes on a hook behind the bathroom door so they can air out before the next wearing. DH's work pants get hung on a hanger, which is then hung on one of his dresser knobs or on his closet door. He will typically rotate 2-3 pairs of pants per week.
We have some hooks on the back of our bedroom door, but my clothes end up everywhere... If I'm feeling ambitious, I hang them back up. Otherwise, they're on the floor, hanging from the full-length mirror, on top of the basket of clean laundry that has been sitting on the floor for a week, on top of our luggage that has been waiting to be unpacked for a week, or on top of the hamper.

If they're clean enough to wear, they're clean enough to go in the dresser. If there's any doubt, they go in the hamper. I can't imagine piling semi-dirty clothes somewhere.

This. I hate having any piles of clothes in the bedroom, so everything either goes in the hamper or is hung up/put away again.

Exactly. Why would you need to keep them separate? If it doesn't look, smell, or feel dirty, it's not dirty. That means it's clean. So it gets put away with all other clean clothes.

There's a section in the closet for in-betweens. They don't touch my clean clothes. We also have a guestroom\spare bedroom that serves as our changing/hamper area, so it's out of sight.

It gathers in a pile on my vanity stool until I can't take it anymore & I either put away the truly 'still clean enough' clothes in my closet or dump it in the hamper.
This is me too, and FI hates it! Most of the time it's just my pants that I'm planning to wear again the next day, but sometimes I wear something different and end up with several things piled there.

It just feels wrong putting pants that I have worn while sitting on waiting room chairs, etc., directly against items that are sparkly clean and fresh. The jeans are basically clean - the inside is absolutely clean feeling. But the outside? I don't want them huddled against clean tees, pjs, tanks, camis, or blouses.
