I'm so excited you for to hear E. That is so cool!!
Honestly, based on your audio, if your old hearing aid is working i would just get a new mold. You don't need fancy technology, just volume. It's only for sound awareness.

Can you explain more on what you mean by this? Do you mean the newer, digital ones aren't going to be helpful for me anyway?
I can pretty much only hear low pitch sounds (is this right, according to the chart?).
Yea, basically I doubt you would get any more benefit from a digital aid to make it worth spending the $1000-$3000 for it.
You only hear the very low frequencies, and that is not really enough to provide clarity of speech.
If you do get something new, is get basic digital technology in super power. I can give you some recommendations if you go that route.
I think an appointment with an audiologist would be a great idea, even if it's just a consult. running speech may be too distorted but the sound "m" is a low frequency sound. I would ask your audiologist if she/he thinks you might be able to ID this sound with proper amplification. If you're interested, maybe you could ask if HAs might allow you to hear "Mom" (of course without background noise, face-to-face communication, etc).
This is the "speech banana" which maps out the different sounds we hear. The word "Mom" is actually phonetically transcribed as /mam/, so you can see all those sounds are below 500Hz, where your hearing is the best.
