My parents moved to GA from PA when 6 months after I graduated college. It was really hard for me because they sold the house I grew up in, and since I was still in my hometown I had to go check on it periodically and it was really tough to see it empty. However, by that time I was married and had my own house. I think it was even harder for my sister because she was only in her second year of undergrad at a PA school and didn't really have a "home" to go to on weekends and short breaks. She used to come to my house a lot and would spend winter and summer breaks in GA with my parents but I know it's not the same.
No they're still in the house we moved into on my 14th birthday. I don't have a bedroom there though. My old room now has a crib, bunk bed and queen size bed in it. My sister, BIL & their 3 kids stay in that room when they visit. The other guest room is where H and I sleep when we visit. It has a full size bed which is too small for H.
Yep. My parents now live in a different state than where I grew up. Their move was due to job changes.
We live in a different state as well, very far from my hometown, so I don't really feel like their move affected me that much. Except that now I don't really have a reason to go back and visit there. I have some friends there that I would probably see if I was in town, but am not close enough with anymore to make a special trip for. So, that's a little sad I guess, but not a huge deal.
My parents moved two hours from where I grew up, but now they're within fifteen minutes to the majority of their respective siblings. It's so much nicer for them to have so many friends and family members nearby, and my mom has really been able to help out with her older siblings (she's in her mid-sixties, her brothers are 70-82 years old, and sisters 57-60).
Nope, they're still there and we live 3 blocks away (although we're moving about 3 hours away in a few months). I'll be sad when they leave the house but I would love for them to follow us when we move!
No. But tators totally not trying to point out your mis-type in the title (& yeah- I've heard editing post titles is not easy). Nonetheless, I wanted to share that I sincerely read this title like 3 or 4 times before I understood that it was supposed to say hS. At first I thought you were like trying to put a sarcastic edge to the post with the 'ha' usage, & then I thought maybe it was supposed to be 'huh?' ('Did your parents move after you graduated, huh?') Anyway, I realized shamefully late, but just wanted to share you made me smile
My parents have not moved, but I can totally see why you would feel that way. My mom has made my old room a craft room now, but she still calls it my room.
