@booby don't worry, I feel the same way.
I seriously think the plane crash from Rio en route to Paris a few years ago re-sparked my fear. Like, how the hell did it go missing about 3 hours into the flight? I used to only worry the first 5 minutes, but I keep thinking about that story, and I'm sure I will think about this one now, too. Ugh, I hate that I'm making this tragic event all about ME!
I know all the statistics of it being so safe, blah blah blah, but I still hate the feeling of having no control. On my flight to India, I cried (quietly) lol. I'm grateful H is still married to me.
Ugh. I just don't understand how it can just disappear.
I've got anxiety flying, too. It's a little better now that I know several pilots and the crazy amount of training they get around every possible thinkable & unthinkable situation, but still...
Oddly, my anxiety has also gone down since I started flying with the kids. I think it's because I'm too busy messing with them to think about my own anxiety at the moment.
I had some turbulence on my flight yesterday. I was terrified. I am not excited to fly home on Monday.
I get so anxious now. This story isn't helping. Ugh.
I just tell myself that if my plane does go down, death will be pretty instantaneous so it will only be a couple terrifying minutes. Not that that's comforting to me at all but I keep telling myself that it is.
I can't read the article because I'm flying in less than a week and already have anxiety while flying. It will not help that. But my heart breaks for the people on the missing flight.
I just read the safety record of the 777. Wow! Only 3 fatalities in 6.9 million flights, and those were from the San Francisco runway crash from last summer!
Recall the pilot who was able to land his plane on the Hudson River. My (smug) pilot friend was never super impressed because he (like the captain of the plane) said that they only followed the specific protocol of how to land over water. Their training is seriously amazing. I'm holding out hope for that to be the situation here, too.
