No, because we occasionally have to try drive one another's car when the other one is in the shop, etc. and it would be a PITA for one of us to not be able to do so. However, neither of us knows how to drive stick, so this is a moot issue for us.
DH's last car was a manual, and even though he tried to teach me how to drive it several times I could never get the hang of it. Not being able to drive his car was a huge problem when he was deployed and I couldn't take his car to work once or twice a week so the belts didn't rot and the fluids didn't get all sludge-y. When we replaced it last year I insisted that he get an automatic.

Learning to drive a manual is a good life skill. MH and I sometimes drive the other person's car but we've never had an issue of absolutely needing to, so I don't think it would be an issue. We can both drive manuals, though.
Maybe with the intent to learn. I have never driven H's car but I would like to be able to in case it was necessary.
This. DH had a stick when I moved in with him. I decided that was a good chance to learn. Unfortunately it kicked the bucket like the day after I first practiced, so I still don't know how (H bought an automatic next). For the record, I did not break his car. Lol. I never even stalled.

H has a manual. I can drive stick but I hate, hate, hate it, so I don't drive his car unless it's an emergency. My car is bigger anyway, so now it's the family car.
My h has has taken one drive in a manual, I've had a lesson years ago but I sucked at it. So both of us are not experienced enough, we probably would have a hard time getting the car home lol. We both would like to know how someday though.

My mom brakes with her left foot (I KNOW) so we never had a manual transmission even though my dad thinks that's the only real way to drive. So I never learned.
Practice makes perfect people!! I love the control I get with a manual transmission car. They are a ton of fun. I would absolutely get the car if you would put the effort in to learn how to drive it. Automatic transmissions are very hard to find in Europe so if you ever travel and need a car, it's a great skill to have.

I disagree that they are fun. Perhaps if I had not had to deal with stop and go traffic and snowy hills for several year I might feel differently. I owned one manual and that was enough for me!
DH has always driven a manual and he is a terrible teacher so I've niece learned. It's really nbd.
My car is also nicer than his and his old car was not a good car to learn on bc it wasn't a typical manual. I just have no interest whatsoever in driving his car.
My BIL has always done this. He generally has a high end performance car, his wife has a family car and he has an SUV for bad weather. He's got a Maserati as we speak. When I used to watch their kids he left keys for all cars and an invitation to drive whatever I wanted. LOL, it never occurred to him that I'd take his car when the kids were in school. Fun times.
That said, I passed on a car once because DH was too tall to get into the drivers seat. He can't fit in my niece's old Ford either.
Yes. I prefer to have a manual transmission and will not purchase a vehicle that doesn't have one. I'm not really a big fan of car sharing though, so we drive our own trucks about 97% of the time. If we take one car, whoever's car it is, drives.

We have one car that is a manual one that is not. I drive an automatic, cannot drive stick. I learned in HS and did OK with it but didn't do it again until DH tried to teach me in my 30's. I cannot get the hang of it no matter what I try anymore. It has never been an issue.

If there was a compelling reason to buy manual over automatic, sure. DH can drive stick. I can, in theory, but haven't done it in practice for over 15 years. So I'd just learn, if that was the case.
