I think with any name that begins with a vowel it's pretty likely to end up with a word. I agree that bag and big are not the word to. Plus most people don't give out their middle names on a daily basis so I doubt it would come up often.
I remember that a boy with the initials PMS got teased a lot in school, but he also told people his initials. I was so jealous as a kid that my brother's initials spelled CAR and mine spelled nothing. I don't think middle names come up a lot, so I agree with everyone saying as long as it doesn't spell something bad.

I thought about initials. I did not like ACL so DD is AKL. I would potentially try to avoid BAG and BIG.
One of the boy names I like begins with O. DH is not a fan of it for a first name. We might use it as a middle name, but not if we end up with a first name that starts with S. I would not want his initials to be SOL.
We ruled out one name when the initials would have been STD.
BAG or BIG I don't think are bad. I had a boy in my class whose initials are BAD, and I remember it was joked about but not badly teased. I'm sure the only reason we even knew about it was because he had a monogrammed backpack, which is easy enough to avoid.
I was SAG and I survived it. I mostly initialed stuff SG anyhow. Now I initially everything SAL, but that's because there were to SLs in my tiny office and since she was there first I added in my MN.

Lol! If I had married a D-last name I would have been STD as well. Now I'm SKY. And I use it on everything. My work requires me to initial all my stuff.
