The Biltmore is not downtown, so I think you either need to stay by the Biltmore or stay downtown. I would stay downtown and then drive out to the Biltmore the day you want to go there. We were just there in November and stayed at Hotel Indigo and it was great - we walked the whole time (we didn't do the Biltmore this last time) and the hotel was nice. There is also an Aloft that is good.

I'm going around Memorial Day weekend (for a family event) and the prices are crazy high to me.
Aloft is known for being affordable in Chicago and I think it's around $375 a night in Asheville! That's insanse.
Are hotels normally this expensive there or is it just the timing?
We pricelined it when we stayed at Hotel Indigo and I think even then it was $150 or more. There is a lack of hotels there so they are on the pricier side.
