Oh wow, that's horrible. I'm not surprised, though. My DH is French and all of his family doesn't understand why we 'let those animals' inside the house. Pets live outside, no matter what the temperature or conditions, and they're fed table scraps rather than balanced pet food. They were disgusted at the idea that I have cats that live INside my apartment and I buy specialized cat food for them. If they weren't my FIL, I would've let them have it.
