doglove, I know a lot about MS but numbness alone doesn't necessarily equal ms. Tell them you need a Valium for the MRI and it will be NBD. I've done one MRI with and one without and I hated the one without. With the Valium it was nothing.
I've been tested for MS multiple times and my dad has it and so does Boyfriend's mom.
I will definitely ask for a valium. What symptoms have you shown that has made them test for it? What kind of tests do they perform to determine if you have it or not?

There have been a few ms related threads on ml in the past few months. You could check those out. I'm sure everything will be fine, sweetie.

Thanks - I feel like this isn't making me feel better. I've been dealing with the vertigo/dizziness and often times will feel dizzy and have to sit down or I actually fall back down/off balance. I have also had a positive ANA test for autoimmune disorder in the past.

The sooner you figure out what is causing it, the sooner you can start to deal with it. It could be any number of things, but not knowing what it is won't keep it from developing. I know you are scared, but you are going to be just fine. More information is better than less.

doglove, my list is pretty extensive. I have dizziness, numbness, muscle pain, muscle tension, headaches, bad balance, heat sensitivity..
I already have one auto immune (thyroid) so it puts you at a much higher risk of having two. With my dad also having ms they really want to be certain.
I think there is more but I am forgetting some.
The process has been an initial MRI (2007) which showed no signs of demylenation. My symptoms were too strong to ignore so my neurologist pushed for a spinal tap too. Spinal tap came back completely clear. This means I get MRIs every 5 years to compare and look for any white spots that would indicate change. My 2013 MRI was clear too.
Even if you do get diagnosed with MS (which is so far away but I know you're worrying) the medications that exist now are so good. My dad does exactly the same things he did before ms and no one would ever know he has it unless he told them.

When I was losing weight, I would frequently get dizzy just after showering and feel vertigo. I lost vision a couple of times, had shaky legs, and almost blacked out. My doc said it was probably a combo of the heat/steam, and not having enough water or protein in my system.
I have absolutely no idea if this is a help to you or not, just know that it may not have anything to do with a possible MS diagnosis. I love you.
I often jump to one of the scarier possibilities when I need to investigate anything health-related. I know it isn't good, but I think it's a common reaction, almost to protect or prepare ourselves for any and all outcomes.
I get you, DL, and I know it is easier said than done, but try not to worry. There are so many possible explanations for what these symptoms could mean. We're here for you, no matter what the result, and you can do this!
Thanks guys - I'm trying to keep it out of my mind. From the looks of the link that Muddled had sent, an MRI would probably help clear that up - and I think I probably need one for the headaches that I constantly get so it's win win I guess.
