Sounds like a great trip, and these are beautiful pictures! I love Oahu too. It's much more than Waikiki and the Arizona memorial, but people don't give it a chance.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain

Sounds like you had a great time and your photos are gorgeous! So jealous you saw a turtle! H and I also visited Oahu last October and minus the traffic at times, we really enjoyed it. I definitely think wayyyy too many people overlook Oahu and base their negative opinions on it from only having spent a night or two in Waikiki with maybe an obligatory drive to the North Shore. We spent five nights on the western side of the island and then finished up with 2 nights in Waikiki for a contrast and also having the ability to walk to places.
We had been to Maui before but I wanted to try Oahu this time as I was dying to visit the Arizona. We only had a week to work with and didn't want to island hop for that short a time (coming from the East Coast). Ironically/disappointingly enough, our week coincided with the s*** government shutdown, so no go for the Arizona. We did get to tour the Missouri which I liked and I got to "see" the Arizona but yeah, slap in the face all the same!
