I am cleaning out my closet and have a lot of nice stuff that I just don't wear. Some still has tags. I have a problem, lol. Anyways I want to bring stuff to consign. It's mostly Lilly Pulitzer, jcrew, designer jeans, good handbags, a little banana. Anyone have success with a place where I can consign? I prefer a place where they pay up front but in the end I guess I don't care. Suggestions welcome! Thanks:)
My roommates were just telling me about an online consignment store. I can't remember the name of it, but I can ask if you are interested.
Second Time Around stores seem to be popular, but I have never sold through them so I don't have any personal experience to share.
If you could let me know about the online store that would be great. Second Time Around has a rep for being snooty and I am scared my stuff would be rejected, lol. Maybe I should give them a shot with some of my higher end stuff though. Thanks:)

Hi I'm not sure where you are in the city but next to where I work there is a second hand store and I'm assuming it's a consignment place. I've yet to go in but google Haven in Charlestown. I think it's just Haven. Also a bit north of the city but Google Madison in melrose. It's all very high end stuff, like manolos, etc. Good luck' If it's not Haven, I'm working tomorrow and I'll see if I was wrong about the name and I'll reply to this post again with the proper name.

I just texted them and they said it is called Tradesy.
Ah, I didn't realize that about Second Time Around. There are several consignment shops in Davis Square of varying price/snootiness levels. I browsed a few of then last weekend.

I've sold things to STA before and had a good experience. I think it was just a pair of XHs old Prada shoes but they definitely have all brands there so it might be worth a shot

My friend just told me about Tradesy last week! She sold a few purses and a suede jacket through them and was very happy with it.

How coincidental! I am glad she had a good experience with them.
Ok never mind Haven isn't consignment, just "socially responsible".
Havenboston.com
But the Madison place in melrose is definitely consignment.
Madison Ave does have nice stuff but her racks are so jammed it's hard to shop. She also jacks up the prices so I'm only soso on it. I've sold two things there - a Burberry wool coat and TB sandals. The coat was from the outlet and the shoes were rue la la. Both items she priced them higher than what I paid for them and neither sold. Sort of annoying. I honestly wanted $50 for the coat and she priced it at $400. It was soooo not worth that. I ended up leaving it at Salvation Army. Probably made someone's day. It was a gift from an ex so I wanted it gone.
Personally, for my money, a tax donation is a better idea Bc you can take the resale value.

I've taken stuff to STA around twice. Once to Newbury St. and once to Needham. I made some money but both times I felt they wayyyy overpriced certain items and as a result they didn't sell. That bugged me because I think they would have sold otherwise. I'm going to try somewhere else next time.
Ex: a 4 year old David Meister dress, priced at $150. Come on now.
Also annoying, Madison ave just put great LV on Facebook. Someone commented and asked how much and they said 'message us for pricing'.
You know what, I went in there once to browse (I live here) and my jaw almost dropped at the prices. I just thought that's what second hand "high end" stuff went for :/ There was a pair of shoes i loved and the price was in the $300 range and i assumed it was the original price and her price would be about half, nope, the listed price was what she was asking! I'm not poor per se, but I'm certainly not in a position to drop over $300 on used shoes
This is a middle to slightly upper middle area, I'm honestly surprised she's lasted this long with those prices. I was too embarrassed to just leave so I went to the clearance rack and bought what turned out to be a hankerchief style top but I bought but thinking it was a skirt!
It was $14. I've never been back.
She seems to have nice things (when I walk by lol) but damn her prices are like whoa. And she sells some hand made jewelry too but that's first hand.
Interesting to hear your experience. Thx for sharing. You don't have to answer of course but are you local?
I'm an old old nestie who was back here for a while then had my 2nd baby in the fall and disappeared again. Trying to be back to normal life again now that's she's five months old :-)
What a coincidence! I have a 15 year old and two 3.75 year olds. Do you go to "volunteer park" ever? I'm in the highlands but on the "other side of the tracks" you will know what I mean Nice to "meet" you
