It's ok. I didn't make my guys a cake, but I put dog food in a ramekin topped with greek yogurt for their birthdays. They got "pupcakes," lol. Candle & all.
Our family dog used to get steaks for her birthday.
I didn't get steaks for my birthday.
My parents spoil their grandpuppy with steak every time he goes with us to visit.
For his birthday, Hilo usually gets a hot dog cake with candles and all lol. We have him a rabbit meat cake last month for his 4th. He gobbled it down so fast that we didn't get to get a picture . Yes we take pics with him and his cake with candles too lol.
I see nothing wrong here. Then again, if I listed out all the cooking I've done for our dogs, even I would think I sounded off my rocker. My most recent episode was when Sadie had to take a 5-day course of medication. I made the dogs their own little batch of tiny meatballs. And of course I made enough for Quincy to have one each time too, because you don't give a meatball to one dog and not the other.

Is it safe to bake the medication inside a meatball? This seems like it would be a healthier option than wrapping their medicine in cheese.
The only reason I am not this person is I don't know when either of them were born. My poor dogs only get to celebrate Christmas.
You could celebrate the day you got them, Gotcha Day.
This is what we do. We never knew Dexter's real birthday, so we designated his adoption day as his birthday. Why not? We happen to know Quincy and Sadie's birthdays, but we also celebrate the day we adopted them. Again, why not? Dog parties are fun. (Dog party = a special treat and a trip to the store to pick out a new toy, not a real party with guests.)

Oh no, I don't bake the medication inside. I cut a slit in a cooked meatball and stick the pill in. I wouldn't bake it in there *or* let it sit in the meatball for days; I imagine it would affect the effectiveness of the medication. Plus I know once a tablet starts to melt, the yucky medicine flavor ruins the meatball disguise, and my dogs won't touch it. Even a couple minutes inside a meatball can start to break it down, so I stick the pill in and give it to her immediately.

That is a good idea, now to figure out when we got them.
