Saw the fetal cardiologist today. Baby has a double aortic arch. It will likely require a v. simple surgery after birth to fix but isn't a huge problem in the grand scheme of things.
However, there's a 10-15% chance this anomaly was caused by a chromosomal issue, which would be a much bigger problem. H and I have opted to go in on Thursday to have an amniocentesis to (hopefully) rule this out.
If you have any good vibes to spare, they would be much appreciated.
Update: Just came back from the amnio. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I tried to stay very still and calm throughout, and this must have helped because it didn't take them any time at all. Afterwards we walked verrrry slowly home (midwife okayed this, but said no power walking). I am now on my bed, being waited on by H. Now we wait the critical 48 hours and hopefully I do not miscarry from it.

Definite good thoughts coming your way. I was really nervous with my first amnio, but it was really no big deal. The needle didn't hurt more than any other blood draw or shot and my abdomen was just a teensy bit sore. It did take longer than I thought for them to draw up the liquid, but it made sense when I thought about it because the tube is so thin. I hope your results come back clear.
Thanks for your lovely support. We'll get the basic results back by next Wednesday, which is a long time but Friday and Monday are public holidays. The full results won't come back for a couple of weeks, so we're in for a bit of a wait.
