I'm searching for Copenhagen hotels for an upcoming trip and I knew it was expensive, but I'm having a bit of sticker shock.
There's a hotel that is set to be open April 17 that almost seems too good to be true, so I feel wary booking it without the help of tripadvisor reviews.
I looked up the two other hotels in this chain on tripadvisor and they're both 3 star (the one I'm looking at is 4 star), but they don't have very good reviews. Mostly old hotel, dirty rooms, etc... Given H's discount, I have to book a non-refundable room, so I'm kind of stuck if I decide on this hotel. Given the reviews of the other hotels in the chain, would you book the hotel that isn't open yet?

Hm, I don't know. I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a hotel. Do you want budget, location, quiet, fancy? Are you okay with experiencing some of the things listed in the reviews?
I mean, most of the reviews are saying the rooms were dirty and noisy and management is rude/possibly double charging people. Are any of these issues something you can live with?
If it's a new hotel, it shouldn't be dirty so I wouldn't worry about that. If it looks like it's in an area away from the train and super touristy areas, noise may not be an issue. That just leaves the management issue, which could be a toss up with a new place. Chances are with a new place they'll be bending over backwards for guests, but it doesn't sound like the chain necessarily has that reputation based on reviews.
Personally, I probably wouldn't do it unless it was a super deal that I couldn't get anywhere else at the same caliber and location. But I'd rather know when I get to my destination that I'm not going to spend time fretting over room accommodations/sleep situation/straightening out charges on my room, etc.
I'm a cheapskate about hotels so I'd be very tempted. It looks nice and like they're trying to upgrade the brand with that property. Where would you be if you don't book this?
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
It was expensive, but the location was pretty decent and they had a good rate for a single room (single bed). It was small but well appointed and I was really happy with it overall.
